2015 Worlds Free Dance March 27

My utter devastation for Kaitlyn & Andrew, has been somewhat lessened by my relief that Chock & Bates did not win!! I am very happy for Papadakis/ Cizeron and their coaches Dubreuil & Lauzon!!

Still was hoping for 2 golds for Canada... but I can't always get what I want.

Well I'm not holding my breath waiting for Dubreuil & Lauzon to choreograph a FD that ISN'T cotton candy romance. That shade of blue is so not my color...

I feel like visible mistakes should just bury a team in a segment. It's just not fair to the casual viewer. Plus twizzles are like my litmus test for ice dance teams.

I couldn't watch the whole competition live. I just watched a couple videos....

When I saw W&P's scores, I knew they weren't going to win.

W&P getting a -1 deduction was for what? W&P not winning gold is upsetting enough but I definitely wasn't ready to see the final results.

P&C World Champions already????? Really???? I'm in shock. I think most people thought they were locked for bronze. I can't even talk about the judging because last year's judging and results at least made sense and could be explained rationally, but this year is totally out of whack.

While P&C's FD has been one of my favorites in recent memory, I definitely wasn't ready to see this.... is it almost as good as Mahler's? I think so. Almost.

I don't get a bunch of the judging tonight. That includes the score for P/C. But I'm not an ice dance expert.

And I think you can like whatever you want to like. My favourite free dance tonight was in the 3rd flight.

I think they are setting C/B to win in boston next year. Hopefully they will have great programs and skate well and earn it.

I think that's what we all want, right? For the winner to win it not be given it?

Agreed! I normally root for Canada as one of my favorites, but the bad attitudes regarding W/P left a bad taste in my mouth. Poor sportsmanship is not just for athletes, but fans as well. I thought the Americans should have won overall. But I'm not dissing P/C.

Twizzle scores:
Shibs 8.06
Cap/Lan 8.06
Stepanova/Bukin 8.06
Weav/Poje 7.97
Pap/Ciz 7.71
A buncha other teams with 7.71
Ch/Bates (level 3) 6.29

Hmmm...

As it should be. Technically, the Shibs killed it. My kingdom for a decent choreographer...

Insanity. C/L's twizzles weren't as good as the Shibs, and P/C's with a mistake was only 0.26 below W/P?

Deduction was for an extended lift, per protocols.

Congrats to all the winners, and P/C for Gold! A little perplexing that half the comments in this thread seemed to want P/C to win the competition just so others would lose...

We are just conflicted because their victory was both a well deserved vicotry and politically influenced (we saw the Canadians were going to be dumped for P/C and it happened) at the same time.
Also, the scores were way too high too soon. 110+ is virtue/moir and davis/white quality which none of the teams are there yet.

How old are W/P? It seems they've been around a long time.

Subtext: After two straight years of not winning when they could have... will they be back?

I don't think they'll retire. I mean, they've still podiumed the last two years. They might as well have a run at the 2018 Olympics (and a world gold, too... next year could be the year if they have great material).

Farewell russian ice dance?

Russia will have a little rebuilding to do in Ice Dance, but they are building an empire in ladies right now which has been desolate until the last year or so. Russia should dominate ladies for many years to come and will probably receive the majority of the focus for a long time.

I didn't watch their performance, but were they actually "112" pts good? Tessa and Scott's PB is 114 at the Sochi Olympics...

Don't forget that 114 was with an extra lift in the FD as well. This is 112 with one less lift.

Kaitlyn and andrew seem to be accepting defeat as best as they could. They lost their chance at world champion status and they are heartbroken- they have a right to feel that way.

Yeah, their ladies are practically out of this world! I still think they're doing decent in dance, since all three teams were in the top 10 and maybe I/Z can move up a few places with experience.

I know. What a strange turn of events, to see Russia dominating in singles and struggling in Pairs and Dance. Crazy times.

If I were W&P, I would be so frustrated I'd quit. They were fourth so many years and should have won bronze when P&B did at least on one occasion.
