My utter devastation for Kaitlyn & Andrew, has been somewhat lessened by my relief that Chock & Bates did not win!! I am very happy for Papadakis/ Cizeron and their coaches Dubreuil & Lauzon!!
Still was hoping for 2 golds for Canada... but I can't always get what I want.
Twizzle scores:
Shibs 8.06
Cap/Lan 8.06
Stepanova/Bukin 8.06
Weav/Poje 7.97
Pap/Ciz 7.71
A buncha other teams with 7.71
Ch/Bates (level 3) 6.29
Hmmm...
Congrats to all the winners, and P/C for Gold! A little perplexing that half the comments in this thread seemed to want P/C to win the competition just so others would lose...
Insanity. C/L's twizzles weren't as good as the Shibs, and P/C's with a mistake was only 0.26 below W/P?Twizzle scores:

I couldn't watch the whole competition live. I just watched a couple videos....

How old are W/P? It seems they've been around a long time.
Subtext: After two straight years of not winning when they could have... will they be back?
Farewell russian ice dance?
I didn't watch their performance, but were they actually "112" pts good? Tessa and Scott's PB is 114 at the Sochi Olympics...
Agreed! I normally root for Canada as one of my favorites, but the bad attitudes regarding W/P left a bad taste in my mouth. Poor sportsmanship is not just for athletes, but fans as well. I thought the Americans should have won overall. But I'm not dissing P/C.
Russia will have a little rebuilding to do in Ice Dance, but they are building an empire in ladies right now which has been desolate until the last year or so. Russia should dominate ladies for many years to come and will probably receive the majority of the focus for a long time.

I don't think they'll retire. I mean, they've still podiumed the last two years. They might as well have a run at the 2018 Olympics (and a world gold, too... next year could be the year if they have great material).
I know. What a strange turn of events, to see Russia dominating in singles and struggling in Pairs and Dance. Crazy times.
