As I said on Nam's thread... now Canadian boys have landed all quads (except for the 4A) some in competition, some in practice...

Nam looks really good on this 4flip... that could be major in his battle for Olympic berth.

In the meantime, here are the Canadian entries for WTT... One big surprise : Alaine is in.... Kaeltyn is resting... Weapo have higher world standing than V/M so that's not surprising... Eric and Meagan are on the roster... we hope they will be healed

They interviewed Roman & Conrad because 1) They both train in the GTA so it's easy to get them in studio 2) They are the only Canadian medallists from the JGP. Conrad also did well enough (by his abilities) to merit some attention.

These boys are gonna make me update my quad counter too eh. But that is a nice quad flip! No weird low landings.

Larkyn Austman's SP is to Mein Herr from Cabaret. Choreographed by Mark Pillay, I'm guessing? Are there any other Marks in choreography in Canada?

Joey Russell & Gabby Daleman, possibly doing choreo: https://www.instagram.com/p/BShGnsMDrsM/

Gabby & Kaetlyn did very cute shoutouts to each other:

So Emanuel Sandhu is doing choreo for Adelina.

Has he ever done choreo for any Canadians??

The Russians seem to be more moved by him than the Canadians.

Also please Alaine have a strong showing at WTT so as to set yourself up for a fantastic 2017-2018 season.

Larkyn really seems to be coming on strong lately. I mean she added the flip and lutz to her programs this year now if she can get some nice programs and more confidence we just might have 4 ladies in the mix at next year's nationals. I am pretty sure Alaine will still be # 3 but it would be nice if there were at least one other lady to make her skate for it.

Totally agree here...she was on at Nationals but has used those programs to the max. Time for new ones but wow she looks good! Winning her first international medal last month, can be a confidence builder.

Also, never forget that sweetheart from Sept-Îles , Veronik Mallet, she was working so hard on that 3/3 before her injuries. Such a beautiful skater!

Darn, Nam deleted the video of his terrific quad flip. :( Why oh why would he get rid of it?

i was talking with Mango last night...

the Olympics' team event is 2 weeks after 4CC... so nobody on the team event will go to 4CC..

perhaps girl #3 could go to 4CC but it's still would be surprising but she would have 3.5 weeks in between events which is reasonable. So, it means that 2 girls who are not from the Olympic team, and maybe even 3, will go to 4CC this year for Canada... So none of our usual top girls... I think that's a huge incentive for girls like Larkyn and Veronik if she's back in shape or our top juniors (Cotop) to get a chance to qualify for an ISU championship.

It is the same thing for men, but there for sure, men 3-4-5 at Nationals will go to 4cc....

So, in light of that, it will be wide open this year to qualify for events. I am thinking it will give a great boost to our National team and also to those who don't think they can yet challenge for the top steps of the podium but are well within top 5 or 6 possibility.

I think that Skate Canada will announce the Olympic team and the 4CC after Nationals... and then perhaps wait and see who from the O games team is willing to go to worlds... so in that sense, someone who does really well at 4CC could perhaps substitute someone retiring or taking a break after Korea....

This thread is going strong this year... I expect the 2017-18 version will be even stronger... :)

Unless Veronik comes back strong in a summer competition I can see Larkyn also getting the 3rd spot for Skate Canada. Pretty sure the other two will be Kaetlyn and Alaine. Unless Keatlyn wants to try a different event and give SC to Gabby, cause as #2 at worlds she would have 2nd pick right?

i am not sure if it's the host or the skater who has first say...

but what is sure is that kaetlyn and gabby will not compete against each other during GP as they are both top seeds. ;)

so Alaine has great chances to go to Skate Canada.

It probably will also depend on the dates of the events too. I am sure Gabby will be the one to get invited to SA since she would be seen as the easiest of the 3 for the USA ladies to beat.
