2016 Four Continents Mens SP

2-3 clean Boyang programs and his PCS will probably go crazy. Imo undeserved. :slink:

Anyway, Shoma can easily win this:)
And Patrick should do something (I don't know exactly what, but something) with his jumps until worlds.

edit: not to forget, well done Mura!!!

Is there a problem with the ice?!?! I wasn't paying too much attention but Patrick's coach said something like 'you did what you could with this ice'...

Judges are tired of all these splatfests and bailouts all damn day. Not at all surprise by Jin's PCS.

Wow, finally Patrick not getting overscored! That's a first.

Then again, they found someone else they could gift with PCS. Really, I love to watch Boyang and I was one of the few to speak out for him for getting 38 PCS (since I think if Voronov can get 38, then Boyang should too) but giving him 40 PCS is not going to do him any good - he'll not get the message, that he needs to improve on SS and presentation and fans will hate on him, because they think (rightfully so) that he did not deserve his scores ...

At least Patrick got the highest pcs overall. But a 5 point difference between him and Boyang? and only a 2 point difference between Shoma and Boyang in pcs? Wow. I say, boys, get yourselves a quad lutz and your pcs will improve!!!

Thank you judges for always reminding us that PCS are mostly for manipulation becuase the scoring defintely doesn't reflect skating. Thank you skaters for your performances! Hope the judging would be more fair in FP!

Oh god Max doesn't even make the final group. They'll eat him alive no matter what he does.

If Boyang goes clean at Worlds, he will be getting 42 PCS in the SP and 85 in the FS. Lol.

At this rate, by the time Boyang reaches Hanyu's age, he will have already broken Hanyu's record (which was broken by Hanyu) if he manages to get the right programs like Hanyu did (i.e., Parisienne Walkway). The judges will go gaga on him, considering they already are.

With all due respect...Max didn't have a good skate. What did you expect?

Or do you mean that he will be score poorly in the FS? If he's clean I think he could move up. Maybe not a medal, but in the top 6 at least.

I forgot who's response on this board this belonged to, but I'll repeat it again: what a brave new world the Barcelona GPF has presented to us with these insane PCS.

Lesson: do quads as best you can and you'll be rewarded no matter how terrible your program is.

Some great skates. Agree with the top group but a different order.
1. Han
2. Mura
3. Shouma
4. Yin
5. Chan

Yin is improving but PCS still too high. Same for Shouma. He has a couple of dramatic landing poses. A lot of busyness which runs up some points. But, not enough range of expression.

I don't like these oversized elements by Yin in the short. It's just too much. Pushes his skating into a jumping exhibition.

Don't worry. Lori would never give him something as exciting as Parisienne walkaways - rock has never been her style. Instead he'll be performning one jazzy sp after another for the next three years ;)

Ugh. You're actually right....

Sigh, I rarely have TES issues but PCS scoring leaves so much to be desired. Few guys deserve SS more than 8.5. If PChan is ~9 here, Shoma is max an 8.25, Yan Han deserves about 8 and Mura 8.5. Jin should be no more than 7. PChan deserves PE of ~ 8.5 only, the jump mistakes were a bit jarring. Mura deserves it at least as high as Shoma and should deserve a bit better IN.

I think Boyang did a great job - little over marked on the PCS but still, you can see improvement - long program will be telling though. I would have put Mura higher than Shoma - I just thought his performance overall was better. I feel really bad for Max - he looks devastated.
