2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

I'm very sad to see Gubanova missing a competition (again!), but the officials' logic is clear to me: they are trying to maximize the expected value of Russia's medals on international competitions. Konstantinova has no chance in seniors, but she probably has a higher chance to get a junior medal than Gubanova.

How can that be the case?

Here are all of Konstantinova's first tier junior competition(JGP, worlds) scores over the course of her entire career:
175.20
172.06
162.84
181.98

Here are all of Gubanova's:
185.59
194.57
194.07
160.75

One of these has shown scores with potential to even get close to a medal, the other never has.

this is beyond ridiculous

i wonder if TAT is really that stupid to not understand what kind of public image she's building for Konstantinova? :palmf:
At least the comments are a good read even with the power of google translate. Happy to see that the Russian fans' opinions mostly echo those of international ones.

This old wonderful woman just follows her heart, it would be pathetic if she will care about what other people think and will change her mind because of that.

Assuming that her motivation actually is "following her heart", of course.

The hype around Chebotareva's skaters (both who can't skate clean to save their lives) is really something else this season...does she have friends in high places or what?

I don't understand why on earth TAT is hyping Konstantinova most of all, because at least she yells at Kolyada when he screws up but Konstantinova messed up her SP at Senior Nats and Junior Nats and still gets such high praise.

I have just one problem with Stasya, what the hell she is still doing in juniors. I hope she'll refuse JWC invitation and will go to the Senior Worlds instead of Sotskova. That would be interesting.

Honestly? As a 17 year old skater from Russia who's painted to be the huge talent by the fed, I would be quite embarassed to go to junior worlds and lose to my 13 year old teammates (which is definitely bound to happen).
I would also feel stupid stealing the spot from an actual junior, so yes, if I were her, I would respectfully decline the junior worlds.

you can hardly find any appreciation of Stasya's score there, that's for sure

So, now is even Tarasova under attack! I read some comments to the article, and stopped it immediately after the word dementia was used. Some fans can be so disgusting.
:curse:

Frankly, I felt that the Russian fans' comments were quite balanced overall.
They acknowledged that Stasya is not really that bad as a skater and has some decent qualities. But at the same time, their main issue was with her being pushed above Gubanova in the scores and for TAT to say her opinion that Konstantinova was the winner of the competition which is completely contradictory to the reality of what was skated in the past 2 days.

If Stasya were to be fairly scored for her performance at JNats, that would probably have netted out at 56-58 for the short, and 128-130 for the free, putting her at around 185 points and 13th place. That's 20 points and 10 placements, which is way too drastic. Realistically, her international potential will max out at around 1-2 seasons of senior GP -- possibly staying in the qualification range on SB, but likely top 6-8 placement and no medals. And that's already a fantastic outcome for someone in Russia who started skating 4 years later than other competitors. Yes, the Fed had held her back in 2015-16 (when they could have given her one of the later JGP's where they couldn't fill their spots) and again from the Rostelecom host spot this year, but they've already compensated that sufficiently by giving her 3 CS opportunities that allowed her to qualify for at least one 2018-19 senior GP outing. Boosting her at Nats to the top 3-4 is over-compensating and drawing unnecessary backlash.

Sending Stasya to WC and Gubanova to JWC .... hmm... Polina Tsurskaya deserves to be the next in line for WC IMO. For Stasya, two GP spots next season is reward enough to be commensurate to what she can deliver vs. other skaters on the Russian international team.

Anybody knows which songs in these videos? Couldn't find anything. 🙁

Uh, what exactly is Zagitova wearing in this EnVogue photo shoot/ article??
It says:
Топ и трусы из нейлона, блузка и юбка из тюля, расшитые блёстками, всё Prada.
Sorry, I'm not going to study another subject in English; Google Translate help you.

That's the point! For any garbage music I got copyrights' claims, where I can see who is an artist. But for the beautiful music - I didn't. Didn't get anything. At first, I thought it was a paradox, but then realized this is actually a very good example of the state of the current reality.

There should be some mobile apps for music recognition.

Also, if you guess correctly the language, you can ask a speaker of it to write down the lyrics (a phrase or two is enough), by which you could find the song.

It's not current, all trashy music gets forgotten quickly, that's why we rarely hear trashy music from the early 20th century.

Lol actually there is one: Shazam it's an app where you can see the title and the artist
