2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

So, only two competitions before the Russian Nationals 2018:

Istanbul Bosphorous Cup, 12-16 dec
Grand Prix of Bratislava, 15-17 dec

Maybe at one of those events we will see Katia Kurakova. Especially in Bratislava, because there are only Juniors and Novices.

They waited until after Euros to announce the Olympic/Worlds team prior to Sochi.

True. That's why Plushy got a ticket. They use Nationals to determine Euros team and then use both Nationals and Euros results to determine Olympics team. At least that's how I remember it...

Im not sure they can do it this time. Keep in mind that the russian olympic team will have to go through a more complicated process than everybody else.
I wouldnt be surprised if some names were submitted to IOC even before the nationals.

Waiting until euros to define the team is basically begging IOC to not let anyone in the team compete because there was no time to process the applications.

Ah, I completely forgot about that... well. I'm curious how they will handle it. And when the criteria will be specified, so athletes will know what they have to do to be picked.

I was thinking here. From one hand that will be interesting to see exclusive fight between two times World, European, Russian and GPF champion vs. reigning Junior World and GPF Champion.

But from the other it will be also interesting to see how Russian Nationals will look like without their top-lady.
