2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

she loves pair skating) Wouldn't mind to try it.
a little bit about 3a and 4T)

She would actually be a good pair girl. She is not tall even tiny, jumps are secure, she is flexible etc.
But... I want her to stay in singles, she is just too good. When she wins Nationals multuple times/Europeans/Worlds/Olympics she can try pairs if she really wants it

Agreed. If it ever so happens that she gets outclassed by her competition and struggles to establish herself properly in seniors, she could have a very bright future in pairs. She's extremely short, I think it was 146cm or some such. Just tailor made for pairs.

Interesting tidbit - two positions in her spin she came up with on her own (one of them where she wrest her arms out). Also, she tried already 3A and even succeeded it couple of times - but they decided to postpone learning it until end of season due to high risk of injury.

It actually does seem like Kostornaia's prospects regarding 3A/quad are in a better state than I expected. I didn't expect her to have actually managed to land these jumps.

So next season we're potentially going to see:

Kostornaya with 3A and 4S(Or 4T, rather?)

Trusova with 3A and 4T and 4S

Shcherbakova with 4T and 4Lz

And of course the Japanese Rika Kihira with 3A and 4S

Exciting times ahead.

I see the Russians starting a quad revolution, but a 3a? Especially Eteri’s girls have poor axel technique, I mean, even Med and Zag struggle on the 2a! However I could see Kihira making the 3a popular, just not in Russia at the moment.

Here you can see that the highest 2A is that of a student of Eteri's.

Trusova also should be very close to 3A. Girls like Medvedeva don't define the entire group - Especially for the ones who Eteri gets when they are older, their technique is essentially set.

These girls are individuals. Some are good at axel, some aren't.

Sasha's and Alena's 2a are gorgeous)

True, I guess we also have to think of the future, not Eteri’s current best. I never thought Tsurskaya’s axel was that high, but hey, since it is, she should try the triple as well!

Polina's jumps remind me of Yuna Kim. Big height, good technique, relatively slow rotation. Is it a coincidence that their best jump is the 3lz-3t? They both have solid 2a but didn't or shouldn't attempt 3a. And also relatively they don't have the best spins among the ladies as both are relatively not as flexible as the other ladies.
