What are you talking about? They all have salaries from ISU, and ISU pays for tickets and hotels. And you suggest to ordinary people who are not related with ISU or any national federations, spend money, time and don't receive anything in return except, 'thanks for live streams, you're awesome!'?

I dont see how and why anyone except russian fed could or would livestream russian junior competitions. Basically because it is obvious that it would be a "thank you for live streams" thing, and the fed / gov is the only one who would be interested in such.

I'd say they're doing pretty good in this season so far.

Such a stereotype is one of the worst parts of socialism. In US there is no government support. Russian gov supports sport - that's great, but it doesn't mean there can't exist independent organizations and people, who are interested to provide content in good quality and have thereby a profit. Both sides are happy. Can you imagine how works NHL? And what's the difference between this organization and the others? Like IIHF or other national leagues? It's enough to compare their profit to see how rich and successful NHL, and how poor the others. NHL has no government support at all.

But the good sign was at the last one, when they allowed to broadcast not just a local competition, but one of the most important competitions in Russia to the third-party studio. Maybe they did it in purpose (I mean, all four stages were broadcasted at the main channel, and the 5th one at another, why?) or for a test. So yeah, probability of live stream of Junior Nationals right now is about 60%.

I repost it here too, we have a new lady who start to practice 3A! It's very impressive also because look at her legs. I mean, for the axel you should have strong big legs, and hers are just so thin and quite long.

One of the interesting events is going to happen at Euros. Do you remember ms. Svetlana Panova at international senior level in K&C? I don't. Sotskova left her before her senior season was started. So, now it's her debut? Looking forward to see it. And expect nice skate from Kim there. With good skaters your own quality is getting better. With such a company as Kanysheva, Sinitsyna, Kostyuk, Cibinova, Frolova, Zinina... Kim definitely should progress.

I'm, too, ready to pay 20-30 dollars to watch full coverage with FHD live stream of an event, sitting/lying on my couch, and drinking.

But how many of others will want to if:

1. Watching this forum you can come to one conclusion:

People are not interested in figure skating, but in background of that. They're happy to discuss in hundreds of pages skaters' interviews, weight problems, new manicure/hair/dress, banning of Russia, what is balance in the program, etc. Absolutely boring and barely connected to figure skating things. Or it's just some persons are writing something like, 'I'm not Medvedeva's hater, but her flutz and tanos are so ugly, and she's always overscored'. And then starts a holywar in dozens of pages. Also very boring.

2. Most of people here are from NA (US/Canada), only 10% of them are interested in Russian ladies. You can compare number of posts/views in subforums of US Nationals and Russian Nationals to get that. You said you're following some Russian forums, how many people are there? Do they know such surnames as Usacheva, Berestovskaya, Zinina, Rubtsova, Chistyakova, U. Vasilieva?

3. It's not Worlds, Euros or Senior Russian Nationals. We're talking about competitions with rising Russian stars and superstars. Many people here don't even know who they are, and don't care. I mean, how many people will want to watch competition with only 13-15 yo Russian girls? Or, if we're talking about Novices, 10-12 yo? 10-20 people? And who of them will be ready to pay for that? [emoji848]

ISU has nothing to do with any national events of any country, so this is pointless.

I think you are mixing several things together. It is not true that people are not willing to pay to watch skating. People either are willing to pay a lot of money and watch it live, or they watch it in their own comfortable home on TV while resting on the sofa. However, if they watch it on their own sofa, then they often don’t know why they should pay for it. Think about it -JGP is free broadcasted by ISU. GP are on TV (some of them) and the rest of them on YouTube. The nationals of most countries are not worth watching; the only once I would watch is Russia, Japan, USA and Canada (and from USA and Canada only the top 3-5 in each category). Russia posts their nationals on the internet. Their junior nationals too. Even the their elder age nationals. So it is not that people would not be willing to pay 20 euros to watch skating, but why would anyone want to pay if they can watch it for free?

I would never pay 20e to watch a single event on the internet, when monthly Netflix fee is ~10e.

I watch FS live, on TV, on a computer monitor, on a 135 inch screen in my Sochi home theater. Once I watched young Gubanova on the laptop in Sochi's airport lounge. Yagudin who was returning after another Averbugh's show passed by and laughed with the words: "figure skating is everywhere now". My wife says it looks like a sickness. May be the cure is to apply to work for the Russian FED now that "I am open to new challenges"?

you can't compare NBA/NHL to figure skating, absolutely different level of development, amount of sponsors, etc.
