2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

So, more less full list of the competitive ladies, who are eligible for the next JGP 2018-2019 season:

Only 14 spots or 7 ladies (or more if some of them bombs competition).
Trusova (2), Kostornaya (2), Tarakanova (2), Shcherbakova (2). Now only 6 spots left for three ladies. Who will take them?
And what should we do with the others?
You missed out Daria P. She has higher chance of getting 2 JGP spots than Shcherbakova, although it would be wiser for the Fed to promote her to senior.
She is post-puberty, has been extremely consistent for two consecutive seasons, and has a greater technical content than any senior lady minus Zagitova. This is exactly what the senior field needs for the next season, an upgraded version of Sotskova.
That's why I didn't include her and Konstantinova. To me Daria should seal the deal with 3 consistent ladies in seniors along with Zhenya and Alina.

Phew I thought your forgot her, like many people tend to do.
If we look at seniors:
Except Medvedeva, Zagitova and probably Sotskova, all other ladies look pretty weak. That's nonsense how some people here say that Zhenya and Alina both or one of them will retire after Olympics, because if so, Russia will lose their domination.
Radio - still bad jumps and bad posture, she's slow and her spins are slow. She was overscored at Russian Nationals, her real place was among Istomina and Yakovleva, if not lower.
Tuktamysheva - just one consistent and successful season so far (2014-2015), also her PCs are weak and she'll never get high scores for that, with or without 3A whatever.
Pogorilaya - up and down, also unstable and inconsistent, current status unknown.
Tsurskaya - well I hope she will gain her previous shape and consistency, for now she's inconsistent and her skating skills are not good.
Who's else? Sakhanovich and ABBA? Really? I hope besides Panenkova and Konstantinova, to seniors will move Gubanova, Tarusina, Kurakova, Nugumanova and Fedichkina.
I would say current senior ladies look like this:
1st tier:
Medvedeva, Zagitova
Doubt they will retire after Olympics - Zagi still has a lot of stuff to win, and Medvedeva is such a strong competitor that i doubt the got enough medals yet. Specially if Med comes second after Zagi at Olympics, I can totally see her staying for the whole next quad just to get that gold.
2nd tier:
Sotskova - well kinda obvious, lower TES, boring programs, some URs and so on.
Tsurskaya - well she is not top right now, but has some potential to develop if she remains injury free
Everybody else:
Radiu and Tuktik - it pains me, but i dont see those two getting anywhere near top even if Zhenya and Alina retire. They had a lot of time to improve and grow, but there is basically no improvement at all, and at their current level, well =( Canadians and Japanese would beat them easily.
As for the juniors i expect Konstantinova (finally), Panenkova (because she would do better in seniors imho, less competition currently) and Gubanova to move up.
Tbh, none of those 3 has any chance to challenge Zhenya and Alina, but some (Panenkova) could make the second tier.

Gubanova needs Jr Worlds. The other three seem to have carrier prospect similar to that of Mikhailova.

If Gubanova and Panenkova move up they will immediately be in the second tier.
Dasha is technically superior to Zhenya but really needs to work on her PCS. Nastya has skating skills on par with Satoko, but need to work on her landings. Both are consistent, especially Dasha. She had a bone fracture in JGP warm up and managed to skate two clean programmes. This season she had a grand total of one fall, which happened in her first JGP.
May they improve, these two girls will pose real threat to the top tier ladies, especially Zhenya, who has no sky-high technicality to back her up.

Im not sure if Gubanova moves up or not, she have 1 bad skate all season and unfortunately its her JGP so she didnt have 2nd assignment and failed to make JGPF. she done well in senior nats but robbed of JWC spot in junior nats. She didnt have high SB to have GP invitation. I can see her doing JGP again with CS like how Stasya and Fedichkina did this season, also Guliakova and Tarusina may do CS too since both is senior eligible next season. Or RusFed may get her GP by picking her as host pick in CoR which is quite unlikely imo. But it could happen since ABBA girl can get picked as host pick.

Samodurova could move up as well. She's super consistent although lacking a 3-3 in the free skate, and currently world #26 in SB. With her current level of tech, she probably won't be an immediate challenger for tier 2, but she could be one of the next few in line.

I don't think so. JWC is the only ISU competition left for juniors this season.

Alas, video during ice resurfacing procedure between skates is most likely impossile to get now, I suppose. Someone made couple of screenshots of this though - it would be very hard to find it now but I'll try, maybe. In short she appeared during break at empty K&C area, looked around and on the table, took chocolate bar left at the table as present for another girl, put it in pocket of her sport jacket and left.
