2017 GP Internationaux de France Ladies FS

Then the only hope is if either Gabbby, Karen, or Satoko wins SA? Yikes.

Gabby and Karen could do it. Karen is still a 4th place finisher at worlds.

I say let's get a wig and two random girls and enter shoma in all four categories.

I might be wrong with the math on this.. but I think Polina can win SA and still allow Wakaba to still make the GPF -- because Wagner's first GP score was lower than what Wakaba's been scoring, I think she'd lose the tiebreak (and that's assuming Wagner manages to wind up 2nd).

so many complaints... i think the judges got this one completely right.... with the way things have been judged for a while...

1) Alina uses the system very well and she delivered... to me, there was no doubt she earned her TES fairly... dust off a couple points in PCS, does it make a difference?
2) Masha was better this time than at skate canada... i saw only one UR in real time and she was more connected. I still don't think the program is well-made but she deserves her second place... and yes... i put her lower in my predictions because I wanted wakaba in gpf but Masha earned her spot fair and square here.
3) Kaetlyn, tiny touch on 2a-3t.. with the size of that combo, judges usually don't make her pay that much and having seen it, i can understand. The loop was too bad... and well... singling an axel is better than singling any triple... and almost better at that point than falling.... so I don't think that she was overscored at all considering she has done much better when she lands one more triple. It was still 6 triples landed here (one with small touch of foot on exit).... those who call that a disastrous skate are very unfair... how is 6 triples a disastrous skate? Maybe compared to the steadiest of skaters but didn't Medvedeva do the same last week? and I'd take Kaetlyn's single axel anytime over Medveda's double...

Mai : many complain about PCS. FWIW : i have seen her live and was so excited because she made a huge impact on me last year. It is unfortunate to say that she doesn't project her music. She is very focused and looking down for most of the skate. Lil Bet was like that too but she is now reaching out better. Both are quite small and have beautiful refined skating that shows well on the screen but those details are hard to see live and they need bigger movement and more impact in their skating to grow their PCS.

So there.... a couple points off Alina's PCS and we would have a pretty much perfectly judged event IMHO.... I guess I am crazy because I see so many complaints.

Well ok.

Figure skating judges are making sure that the interest in this sport is going down the drain for me. Woo. Ah well, less stress at least.

Oh, no, Wakababy... If only Polina T took silver that she deserved last week...

Yep. In the end Kostner getting massively overscored will bump Wakaba out of GPF. What a shame, really. And it's not like I'd want Tsurskaya to miss it just so Wakaba can make it, either.

For me, the UR is the least of my problem with her when watching. Not sure why, but I find her programs Kovtun level boring. :slink:

Very technical but bereft of anything other than that. :slink:

Well I agree about that. To me, Sotskova is one of the most boringactive skaters. But that's subjective. Underrotations shouldnt be subjective. And hers were visible even in real time..

Oh figure skating. Juniors just keep your programs! If only Michelle Kwan would have brought back a junior program in 1998 . . .

i don't think Wakaba chances is that small. Yes Polina T is consistent, Wagner will be pushed by USFS but who knows? Polina has messed up in the past, also in local competition where she bombed in FS this season. We know Wagner UR problem. If Gabby skate like she skate at Worlds 2017, or Karen skate at US Nats or Satoko back in form its probable? They are all great skaters who has a lot of potential imo. In their 1st GP its not like Gabby and Satoko messed up that bad (except Karen).

Zagi won... Wow, I have no words.
I'm so proud of her, but God I have to say it's really intense to be her fan :)).

Well I think you were working yourself up for no reason. And those of you who were all gloom and doom about Alina since yesterday should feel silly. You should not even have a doubt about her ending up on the podium and going to GPF if you have been following ladies' skating and paying the least bit of attention to her career, her BV and her TES in the past year.

I stand by my prediction from September that she'll be the 2018 Olympic champion.

Is Elisabet really deservedly better in PCS than Mai? I'm not the biggest fan of either, so just asking out of interest....

as a fan (and mother ) of both i think they are close, i would give edge to Mai on SS and to Elizabet on TR, rest is a bit subjective, but definitely would give better GOE to Mai's jumps because she just flies :luv17: so overall i would have Mai higher on LP today, but what do i know :slink:

Loved Alina tonight, first time she's been able to get me engaged in her performances, Sorry to see Mai be pipped of a podium place again, OH KAETLYN! I love you dearly but FS are always your nemisis!!! And a shout out goes to lil Elizabet for being the newest member of the 200 club, a mighty effort!

Anyways it's after midnight here and bed time beckons, night all :bed:

Yep. In the end Kostner getting massively overscored will bump Wakaba out of GPF. What a shame, really. And it's not like I'd want Tsurskaya to miss it just so Wakaba can make it, either.

If i had to pick one, Id like Wakaba and Polina in, and Kostner out.

Mai is slowly becoming an another Rika Hongo to the judges. Even lower PCS than Lil Bet. It's sad. I need some cognac.

And Wakaba is off GPF. No japanese lady in Nagoya. I really need cognac now.
