2017 U.S. Nationals Championship Ladies SP

I'm really impressed that Katie competed after such a terrible fall earlier today. I hope she has the skate of her life on Saturday.

Katie McBeath: Doubled the 3Lz - invalid. Solid 3F+2T. Footwork sequence seems off the music. The performance just felt anxious and a bit downcast.

For the record, regarding Karen Chen, I have no problem with it if she ends up on the Worlds team. But I would prefer a veteran National Champion. When sending a National Champion to their first-time Worlds, it's better if they have had some international success first, IMO.

*tell myself not to be heartbroken no matter how this goes. you've been through everything before. you are okay, mirai4life.*
:dance3:

Tonia pointing out the prayer hands in the layback...very appropriate description of me while thinking about Gracie's FS :laugh2:

I think that's overstated. If she does well in her FS, I'd be comfortable with her going. But who knows? I have a feeling much will change in the standings during the FS.

It is too early for this, better to wait and see the WHOLE event before picking a team. Polina would have won at this point last year.

Caroline Zhang and Kanako Murakami are JW gold medalists, so I'm not sure that really proves anything...

So true! But caroline was 14 and pre growth spurt. Karen is post growth spurt and the juniors right now are FIERCE! It would mean a lot of she could make the podium over a few Russians.

Umm no way should Gracie be ahead of Mariah..even with a fall Mariah committed and sold the program all the way to the final note of the music. Gracie might have as well been a ghost for all she was giving out there after the mistake.

Ditto!!!! Mariah should be ahead of Gracie.

Katie was such a fighter. She didn't let the mistake on the first jump go through her skate. She saved her combo by adding her back-end double toe jump to her flip.

Here we go... i am staying up and dying at 4.45am for you dear Mirai, please do well...

I can see your point. Either way, I want our girls to do their best--and hopefully keep our three spots for Olympics (which is such a tall order!)

Time to cheer for Mirai (and then one more skater before sleep!:bed:)
