No No NO! THis can't be. Actually they are guaranteed two if in top 12 so USA is home free and all is well But Canada just lost its 3 spots. Unless the young Russians mess up a lot or one of the Chinese teams.

No, they aren't guaranteed 2 if in top 12. In the usual course of events that would be true, but at this specific competition things are VERY dicey because of how many countries are earning multiple spots. 16 spots is max no matter what so if all 16 are taken by the teams who place higher, it's the USA's that will be cut since the ITA and the FRA teams are currently higher. This also depends on both Russia AND Canada earning 3 spots though. LOTS of moving pieces here, the situation is legitimately very complicated. Normal rules might not apply.

Or maybe because Pairs are so often scheduled without a day of rest between SP and FP? It sucks that this discipline is so mistreated.
