Well, besides Hungary, Germany and Austria, we still have teams that can miss the FS, especially if the cut off is the low 60s. Both Italian teams, D/F and even S/B have scored low in the past, especially if they miss an element. That could really change things up.

Sorry I may be a bit too tired to understand this right now, but why besides those countries? whats with austria?

Yes first Q coming up now... spoiler alert it's Yu/Zhang...

Don't worry, I've already looked at the results page.

No surprises. You could have predicted who the Top 4 would be at this stage (and probably the order too!)

Now, if it had been later in the competition, I would have been playing catch-up and avoiding all results...

Horrible!
I'm not that versed in all the specific restrictions of its government.
Can South Koreans go, or are they not allowed either or if allowed not willing to risk it.

That's probably the best they've ever skated. This cut really is brutal, that skate would have made it any other year.

Also where are all the strong Japanese pairs teams? Given their legacy and bounty of single skaters with not enough room at the top, you'd think they'd have built up a solid pairs program by now

It's so much harder to find pairs teams that have the skills AND gel together enough than just sticking two "can't quite hack it at the top" singles skaters together. Ryuichi Kihara was a singles skater before skating with a decently successful Narumi Takahashi, and that pairing didn't last long

Unfortunately I think you're right. There is still Oberstdorf next autumn...

And I liked the North Korean team but if they earn the Olympic spot , their government won't let them skate at the Olympics held in SOUTH Korea! I am not an expert but I'm interested in the Korean conflict and I read a few books about it from which it really doesn't look like North Koreans could compete or even visit South Korea...

I thought I heard an official announcement that athletes from PRK would be competing in Pyeongchang?

Hmmmmm... German #2 team putting up a fight for the FS, unfortunately TES is lower than the current 60+ range pairs, and PCS probably isn't going to be higher.

But just think of it! Top pairs were scoring mid 60s to low 70s two years ago! How times have changed!

Their season's best scores are lower than what is needed to qualify based on the scores that have already been laid down. Austrian team is awesome, with great music!!! 😋😋😋

The Germans were also exciting to watch. I hope they also can make the cut

A South Korean would have to be an idiot to cross the border. They'd have no reason to think they'd be allowed to cross back.

Oh, nothing against Z/K, or austrians in particular! But they don't have much of a chance of reaching the scores for the FS. Neither the countries I mentioned, plus the other teams which can reach the score but are prone to mistakes that could push them down.

Countries with personal best SP scores (not just SBs, but PBs across all their competitive seasons) less than 60.

The Japanese team is not in contention for a spot since there no chance he'll get Japanese Citizenship.

Oh yeah, I forgot he was Canadian.
