Ziegler/Kiefer's PB is 57.14, plus a few others in the 60s. And as Denney/Frazier just demonstrated, ice is very slippery

Either the judges REALLY didn't like Y/Z's step sequence, or Y/Z skating early really really screwed with them.

I definitely agree with the judges on that one, actually. Z/E skate much faster and with better unison and cohesion in general.

Seems like I was reading something like this before the last group.

3 out of 4 of that group gave way to earlier skaters.

This ain't over. The Aussies and Japanese didn't leave a lot of room for error by the higher ranked teams.

But it's been a really good competition so far, only one meltdown and lots of clean and cleanish programs. I hope the top of the field will keep up.

This too. The physicality is an issue, plus finding skaters who WANT to do pairs (daredevils are needed!)

It seems like they're working on it now. They had a Junior pair place 13/16 at Junior Worlds and have had some more competing lately.

Bravery from the girl is more required than from the Pair guy and they have no shortage of daredevil girls who can't find the male partners.

But their women are tiny too.
Sui and Han aren't particularly large and they are amazing

I also think that Japanese culture is all about individualism... Moreover even in real life an avarage Japanese man finds it difficult to build a relationship with a woman

I didn't expect great things from Denney/Frazier but I did expect them to qualify for the free skate. I feel bad for them. And I feel bad for US Pairs.

I think the only group with a 100% chance of qualifying entirely is group 7. Both 5 and 6 could still have some surprises for us.

Y/Z skated really early. That's all that is. I can bet you it would have been higher if it were one of the last 2 groups. As it is...
