The japanese Ladies do not disappoint!!! Great choices, so looking forward to all of them! I think it's okay that Mai repeats her FS too. It is a good program and she didn't have the opportunity to skate it at the biggest stages, now she has the chance to grow with it one more season.

Wakaba's 2018-2019 FS: Hymne a l'amour by Edith Piaf (choreo by Yuka Sato)

Well, after her last season's successful FS, this is undeniably a whiff. Sigh... I had thought that she'd finally found herself a style that she can really get into and project to everyone watching. But this one, I just don't think it'll work for her at all and will make her well-earned status sink. So sad about this.

Oh Jesus Christ.....:palmf: Oh Jesus:palmf:

As far as I know it's not actually confirmed yet that it's Piafs version, "only" that it's Hymne a l'amour. I'll admit I have no idea which other versions would be there, but tbh I'm parying for the small chance of it being anything else "xD

I guess on the plus side is that it's a very strong contrast to her SP and might force her to focus on some aspects she usually gets critiziced for more (extention most of all). We'll have to wait and see how the choreo is and how Waka can deal with it, but I'm not really happy about the choice either tbh.

And while I usually keep all fingers and toes crossed people skate to Final Fantasy stuff, "From my first moment" is *very* much one of the ones I would not have wanted  So basically, all my fave ladies have 1 music choice I love (Waka the SP, Kaori & Mai the LP) and one I really don't (the other ones)

With the announcement of JGP Bratislava and updates of JSF strengthened athletes, I think we're getting the Japanese Jr. ladies' team (18-19 season) as:
JGP Bratislava: Tomoe KAWABATA, Yuhana YOKOI
Strengthened Athletes, JSF:
Nana ARAKI
Rinka Watanabe
Riko TAKINO
Moa IWANO
Shiika YOSHIOKA
Yuna AOKI

On the JGP sub-list also:
Sora MAENO
Rion SUMIYOSHI
Kinayu YOKOI

It seems to be nice balanced out between skaters from Eastern and Western sections. I'm a little curious why Rinka Watanabe is not on the sub-list of JGP entries.

SHIIKA-CHAN!!! :hap93::yes2: Finally!
Her bold SP music choice worked like a charm.:rofl2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E5rDR0Z588 (not sure which version/cast she's using)

Good for you, girl! Now go work on your step sequences~

From my first moment is such a slow, sleepy choice...

I feel like I monkey's paw-ed. When I said I wanted video game music, I didn't mean slow vocal songs.

The one that moves away the most from what she's used to do is Marin with her SP music. Very unconventional for her.
For the LP, i really love the movie Flying Daggers, so i hope that Lori will not give us a generic stuff like Wilson did with Turandot.

I am sorry, but Kaori didn't really find something better from Final Fantasy? I hope that at least the choreographer is Benoît Richaud. Because i don't see Wilson choreo that.
ETA: I see that it's choreographed by Wilson.....

Two "slow musics" this season for her. Piano and guitar.

Isn't this one of the most amusing and delightful images ever? Kaori and Mai. :luv17:
Also, it seems Kaori will restrain herself from attempting the 3A going for stability instead -according to the caption.
EDIT: NO I read it totally wrong. -My wishful thinking going there. She WON'T be trying it this season.
Sorry!!!

The new rules really inhibit the 3A from being attempted by the ladies, I wonder if Rika will still go for it?

What?! That'd be awesome, Kaori is the senior I want to see add a 3A most of all, she has such power and height on her jumps. I didn't think she'd add it though, I thought she got injured on a 3A attempt a few years back? Or was that just a double...

Either way, I'm hyped.

Sorry, my mistake, I read it the opposite. --She won't be trying it this season, because of the new GOE rules, she'll be going for stability. :palmf:

Yuna Shiraiwa's programs:

SP: 'All on Board' by Dickson (OK! my first guess was correct...it's a funny piece with Yuna as a lady's crew member...so it should be using the phrase all on board!)
FS: same as last season

If Wakaba decided to use this season to experiment and try to get more depth to her performance, I guess I can accept and understand it even though I'm certain I'll dislike the music ... Well, this is a good season to "sacrifice" for the sake of future improvement. Still though, I think that she's the sort of a skater that needs to stick to her strengths and master them and so I personally would have chosen differently and just stuck with a "power" program.

Of course, the best case scenario is that I'm all wrong and she manages to deliver excellently(Still not going to make me enjoy such music though).

About Wakaba's FS, she had one more option as music choice but decided to challenge the difficult piece on purpose.

Mai has been trying different medicine than before but it has side effect, and she has been suffering from the rash on her cheek for 4 months, she says it looks red so she doesn't need a blush.

-I'm definitely not hallucinating that in the article it says that Wakaba's FS program, though she didn't try it that day, is made so that a 3A can be added. In May she went to Canada to train with Hanyu's coach Gislain especially for the 3A. They figured out the entrance curve, and getting the feel of it.

I agree with others, that I hope Wakaba's music is WITHOUT the vocals.

I love Mai's LP, so I won't be sad to see it again...but now I'm worried that the SP does not have enough contrast to the LP. Both are quiet and reserved, so it may not give her a boost in the judges eyes.

Oops I'm an idiot and thought the movie name was Lovers, not the song.😂 Would it kill the Jp media to mention the name of the movie instead of just Chinese movie?#LackofRespect.

The film was released under the title LOVERS in Japan.

She says, "I have decided that I will never take away (3A)."

And Yuna Shiraiwa is hoping she can do loop jump as a second jump in combo in this season. She has also started to practice 4S, 4T and 3A, but it is going to be long term goal for the Olympics.
