No news about Yura's program? She's the only top senior whom we don't know music choices.

With the announcement of new programs by skaters, I think we'll soon be getting a glimpse of the new programs that they'll perform and/or compete in the following ice shows/competitions (both domestic and international):

'The Ice' (Jul 28~Aug 5): Satoko, Marin (assuming they may perform one or both of their new programs); Kaori and Mai (both have performed one of their new program(s) at DOI earlier)

Asian Open Trophy (Aug 1~5): Mako and Yuna

'Kanto Summer Trophy' (Aug 9~12, domestic competition for skaters from Eastern region): Wakaba

'Gen-san Summer Trophy' (Aug 10~13, dometic competitions for skaters from Western region): Mai, Kaori, Rika H., Yura, *Mako (not sure if she'll still be there for the competition after AP Trophy)

NB: Note that probably other than AO Trophy, we'll have wait for either the broadcasting of 'The ICE' and other news reports to get to see them skating to the new programs!

Ah crap - I've just learned via this thread that Marin is skating to that horrible lounge version of Seven Nation Army. I got so excited when I saw the choice of SP music. Ugh...

Even though I didn’t think that yuna shiriawa (?) Pictures at an Exhibition program was great (the music edits were strange, imo) I’m not upset she’s keeping it this year. Mainly because it’s not a warhorse!
She doesn’t seem to be on anyone’s radar, and I don’t think she’ll make the Final this year, or come close, but still rooting for her.

Oh, and Rika Kihira’s lp sounds cool, I can’t wait to see it, when’s her first competition????

I'm going to go on the record right now and say I LOVE Mai's short program, and I love it for her. For a post-Olympic year, there are so many over the top, bombastic warhorses being used, and at least the Japanese ladies are for the most part steering clear.

Wakaba is my favorite currently competing senior skater, and I'm... fine with her programs. Kaori, too.

I really think all three skaters' programs (both short and long) have the potential to be programs that grow on audiences and judges, instead of being impressive at first and then growing tiresome.

Rika's first competition is Ondrej Nepala :sad21: from the 19th to the 22th of september!

I felt the same about Yuna. I love the original piece and I think it could be a good program. But the music edits doesn't make sense at all. Even the Piano Guy version is good enough for a fs. I hope she would make a little modification, and please change the costume and makeup...:palmf:

Yuna's free program is not bad :rolleye: maybe she needs better choreography but I like it, IMO I don't think the original piece fits figure skating and I liked her performance more than others japanese ladies's free programs from last year for example Rika Hongo's. Also, What's the problem with her costume and make-up? seriously :disapp:

Congratulations to Sara Honda and Hana Yoshida, 2nd and 3rd at Asian open!
Hana attempted 3A. Complete rotation but she fell. She landed two 3-3s but got URs calls. She really have to work on that.
Sara won the 2nd place by being almost clean in both programs. I hope she will try 3-3s this season.

Hana 3A in practice https://mobile.twitter.com/figureskating09/status/1025019850760962049/video/1

That make think that finally maybe Satoko can land a 3A. Hana's 3A doesn't have so much height but the rotation speed is insane.

Midori have to bless her more for the biggest events. Her 3A success rate in competition is already good. She needs just to land that jump at the right moment.
