Big hurray for the THREE russian teams that are on the GPF!

There's even a big chance of two of them making onto the podium, which is fantastic. Good work, guys!

wheres gmyers ? lol

I think with this new Cop and with better programs S.B and S/K are progression, imo S/K are ahead of S/B in skating skills ad elements are clean, both have poor levels in step sequences , Z/G are solid rus no.3 for now but with the non Kustarova juniors going seniors soon, they will add more depth.

I don't think they have poor levels compared to any other team besides P/C at the moment - and in the RD P/C lost to S/K in BV. If anything, the new COP made the difference between them and the rest of the field even bigger, after all H/D should be closer to them than the russians, but that's not what happened.

well this new Cop was build so it wont be so predictable especially for FD this was made so skaters can jump in placements like in other disciplines
if levels were still post olympics both S/B and S/K still would get level 1 or 2, look how they make their step sequences is still slow, I have hope the juniors are correcting this especially with U/K and E/E .

The extreme struggle of the Russian teams to beat g/f is not good! Aren’t they Italy’s Number 2?

After their JGPF win, it looks like Shevchenko/Eremenko may have the momentum going into Junior Nationals. I'm glad they worked hard to clean things up since that second JGP loss to get the momentum back in their direction. Nice deep edges, matching lines, innovative and creative programs that are also accessible for the audience, light and shade in their expressions, and good chemistry. I felt they were underappreciated in the past and glad that the judges have rewarded them here. The margin of victory may be small but considering the scores they had vs. U/N going into this final, this is a big win.

The fact is BOTH teams are benefiting from the changes in the scoring. Levels? What levels? GOE now rules the roost.

The fact is - some other teams (as Hubbel/Donohue) are benefiting from those changes much more. If we are judging by the levels SinKats would be still second in GPF, just behind Guignard/Fabbri  (Saying that, i think placements on GPF were still correct. I would maybe only give H/D 1-2 less, and S/B point more. Audience from the arena will most probably give a win to S/B tho)

Absolutely. Hubbell & Donohue have been benefitting from GOE since Skate America, most notably in the TR where they had Level 2 & 3 yet outscored McNamara/Carpenter with 2 Levels 4s and 8 Ys. I still find that absurd. But the points differential in Pattern Levels has never been adequately rewarded, even when +3 GOE was maximum.

I was interested to note that under the 6.0 system Sinitsina/Katsalapov would've overtaken Hubbell/Donohue to win the FD and Gold medal with 5 x 1st placements.

I saw a picture on facebook with Elena Ilinykh and Dmitry Soloviev together; no caption though. Any chance they are teaming up?

What do you all think is going to happen at Russian nationals? I hope Sinkats wins but I think its unlikely because of politics, I feel like being Russia's #1 would be good for them after a bunch of rough nationals for them in the past.

being a country's #1 can be a blessing & a curse/
Hopefully it wont be a heavy burden for SK (if everything turns our great for them:luv17:)

I get the feeling the Russian fed. will stick by S/B as #1 for the time being so I expect them to win Nationals bar some mistake.

Someone on the other forum said Zhulin complained in an interview that after the GPF many powerful people barely aknowledged S/K silver and were only complaining about S/B being robbed and undermarked. So you can see where the politics stand.

It's not like S/B only lost to them because of mistakes, it was a pretty convincing S/K win. It may be a sign that international judges like one team better regardless of what the fed. tries to whisper in their ears but it was only one competition. So it will be interesting to see what happens in future competitions and if that continues or not.

S/B vs S/K is almost similar to B/S vs I/K with some differences. The biggest of course being Zhulin might be on the winning side this time.

Nationals decides number one. If S/K win they are number one! Just like b/s were number one 2011-2018

What on earth happened to Zagorski and Gueirreiro in the free dance?

I haven't seen their performance but apparently Tiffani was not 100% and was fighting an injury so she made multiple mistakes.

But most of all he had a shoelace (?) issue and they skated through it. The coach was angry in the k&c that he didn't stop and ask the judge for a startover. TAT, who was commentating, was equally angry they didn't stop saying something like his mom was a tech specialist and he should have known better

They didn't get bronze so yes I agree, very silly on their part.

Oh well....only nationals.

The first half of their program was beautiful though!

I am enjoying S/B free dance more and more, I hope they clench silver over S/K at Europeans. They need revenge after the GPF (where I still don't understand how they came fourth).

Everyone else was boring, I can't wait for the junior Russians to turn senior, they are more interesting to watch.
