2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Or she should have had Shcherbakova's spot. That girl does not deserve a second JGP before Sasha/Alena.
Even if the entry list is not final.

It’s really just planning, though. Let’s be real, do you think the fed would plan for Shcherbakova to have two spots and Trusova and Kostornaya to have only one each? Shcherbakova had the first JGP assignment, Kostornaya had the second, Trusova the third. It’s likely that if they do end up sending Shcherbakova to JGP4, we’ll see Kostornaya at JGP5 and Trusova at JGP6. Its only logical. It’s not as though all the entry lists have already been released and Trusova and Kostornaya only have one each.

Besides, based on last year, Shcherbakova will most likely only get her second spot if she wins gold in Bratislava. All of the assignments from JGP4 onwards should be temporary.

I think Sinitsyna will receive her spot(s), Kostyuk will not and Gulyakova needs that 3A done in competition to have a chance.

Looks like Sinitsyna isn't getting a JGP. I am furious. Honestly, she should have Gubanova's spot at this rate. Ksusha was marvelous at test skates and Gubanova didn't even come.

I really hope she gets one...I don’t think the fed will be biased enough to give the spot to a girl who didn’t show up. Then again, they’ve made countless questionable decisions in the past, so who am I to predict what’s going on?

It’s possible that the JGP2 entries just haven’t been updated yet, and Sinitsyna will take Gubanova’s spot. It’s only fair.

It's my two favourites!!

Anna SHCHERBAKOVA
Anastasia TARAKANOVA

I think that Anna's spot is temporary, depending on the first event. If Tarusina win over her, she may lose that spot.

To me the pattern appear the same as the last year:

Three russian winners ( Trusova, Tarakanova, Panenkova ) on the first three events, and one second place.
Then, they give the second spot for the first winner, with another girl.
Another one ( Samodurova ) with the winner of the second event.
Another one ( Kostornaia ) with the winner of the third event.
Winners of the fifth and sixth event ( Samodurova and Kostornaia ), at the last.
No second chance for the silver medal of the first event ( Gulyakova ), but that because five russian ladies have won at their first event.

They have fourteen spots. If they want five skaters at max on the final, they can give four of them to others, so there is space for nine skaters.

There's nothing to be mad about Sinitsyna. I think is the next to be assigned, to Ostrava with the winner of the second event ( temporary Kostornaia, and then we'll see )

Seeing Canada get to send three (THREE!!) ladies to JGP 4 just reminds me of why Russia needs to host a JGP. The junior depth in Russia is amazing and those three spots would help make the spots distribution easier (Gubanova AND Sinitsyna could get spots, for example)

Or just add another log into an already oversized dam!

I just wish the JWC would be held in Moscow because I think it would be crammed full of spectators

The fact that Russia is still not hosting a JGP is a crime :drama:
At this point, with how competitive it is just to get an assignment, i'm surprised Gubanova is even considered seeing as she skipped the test skates.

The overall group of countries change every year for hosting JGP. China cancelled all ISU hosting duties this season. Canada stepped up to the plate and volunteered to provide a venue for their JGP event. In return for hosting a JGP, hosting fed gets 3 entries in each discipline. Russia had a similar opportunity when they hosted one in Saransk in 2016. I'm sure the Canadian fed will maximize the opportunity to let young Canadian ladies gain experience. That is one of the goals of JGP after all. And don't forget Canada is welcoming two (2!) Russian ladies to the event. A good opportunity for all.

I get that Canada volunteered to host and that's great. Good for their ladies for getting experience. But it's hard to see Russia without a JGP (by their own fault for not hosting) when each and every spot is so crucial to them. If they had hosted a JGP this year, Gubanova could have a spot and Sinitsyna could have two. Right now, there are ladies with consistent 3-3s and consistently clean programs who will not get JGP spots and the experience of competing on the JGP. That's unfair to them and that's why every spot matters.

Can‘t we just calm down? We don‘t know why she skipt test skates so I don‘t think we are allowed to judge!

But I think we can judge the Fed (not her) for still giving her an assignment.

Reasons for skipping test skates:
Injury: then why would she have a JGP?
Illness: if it is a minor illness, could she not skate just her programs? and if it is a major one, it would affect her training leaving her not ready for an early JGP
Family emergency: then why was she streaming from a mall? and why would Vika Vasilieva tell her that she was lucky?
Skate problems: why would she have an early JGP?

i'm calm, what makes you think i'm not? i said i'm surprised she gets assignments despite not showing up for the test skates. She's one of my favorite juniors, i absolutely love her but it is indeed surprising that she did not show up at all. The others girls showed up even tho some did not perform their best and some don't even look like their programs and layouts are completely ready yet but they were there :scratch2:

Can you imagine the back room drama if someone dared to offer suggestions to fix the program TaT helped Anastasiia choreograph

Maybe TaT told her to stay home :laugh2:

Still think they are going to have her skate senior unless something dramatic happens on the JGP. Let’s see how the first event goes type of thing :scard7:

she needs to go senior seriously! there's no reason to hold her in junior field for another season. And her music choices would be so great for her senior debut :sad21: #LETGUBANOVAGOSENIOR :hap10:

I just want Spirals for Miles to love her

Russia, as it is, has 14 spots total for ladies in JGP. It's unfortunate that one of them may not get a JGP or an additional JGP. But what about Canada? They would have only 1 entry in five events (5 spots total) if they're not hosting. Now additional young skaters gets a rare opportunity. It's more than fair for them to submit three entries in each discipline, including dance and men, where there is quite a bit of depth, in return for welcoming hundreds of skaters and coaches. Russia can volunteer next year if they so choose.

You guys are bashing Gubanova for not showing up for test skates and getting one JGP, yet congratulating a girl who bombs Junior Nationals + National Elder Age + Test Skate and getting TWO JGP

Such bias.
