2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

It is basically very similar to what I said although with more details and one exception: if in their next outing both Zhenya and Liza show poor results (below 190) and Stasya shines she may get the ticket to Saitama.

Agreed. In an ideal world I hope Liza regains her form as she deserves the spot the most and has the highest scoring potential right now. But with Worlds being so close, whoever wins at the Cup Final will most likely get the spot. This will be an exciting competition to watch!

if Zhenya show a clean outing i dont think it really gives them the edge over the others.... That would be Zhenya first 2 clean programs this season. Who knows if she can do it again in Worlds? Nobodh expct her to be struggling but she is. I hope she can rebounded next season

Zhenya's main competition for a spot are Stasya and Liza.

Stasya and Zhenya had very similar seasons, with Stasya skating only marginally better at Nationals and having her own fair share of meltdowns and much lower scoring potential. If Zhenya skates better than both Liza and Stasya, I think that gives her the edge -- but Liza still has priority if she demonstrates she is in shape now or at least by Worlds.

When is the last day to submit the official entry plus alternates? Can they bring Alina, Zhenya, Liza & Sofia and just decide the day before competition like what they do in gymnastics? the only problem I see is that I dont think alternates can do a practice at the official arena? How about at the practice arena?

Liza had a weak outing at Bavarian Open before winning Worlds in 2015, scores at these events mean very little, especially for Mishin who uses those merely as tests to prepare his athletes, rather than expecting clean performances all the time.

I also disagree with your statement that she only had one strong season: she was very strong in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Then 16-17 if you actually go back and watch her programs she skated clean most of the time, it's just judges didn't want to give her high marks anymore for some reason. 17-18 also she was underscored at the first GP event despite clean and bombed the second.

Thanks to one of GS members we have easy access to the results of 3 previous seasons:

Let's forget about judges and scores

Liza in 2016/17

no triple axels
Her best result was at CoC. SP: 3T-3T with negative GOE FP: she popped 3Lz so that 6 triple program, the last combo with negative GOE
Her second best performance was at Golden spin of Zagreb. SP: she popped 3Lz to single with 0 points FP: the fall on 3 loop.

Liza in 17-18

some triple axel attempts but not a single successful one
Her best result was at CoC again. SP: clean with 2A FP: 3A - stepout, first combo UR, layback spin - only 2nd level. I agree that Korean and Canadian judges were not reasonable there. Like Canadian judge gave Gabby 67 pcs and Liza just 57. But still in her best performance of the season she was far from perfect.

Liza did not have a single strong performance in 2015/16, 2016/17, and 2017/18
I think that this matters more than 11/12 and 12/13.

Of course the more recent ones matter more, I'm completely with you on that, but I don't think it's fair to her to say "she only had 1 good season" because that just isn't true at all.

In 2013 two young Russian skaters from Izhevsk - Alisa Lozko and Alina Zagitova - were in St.-Petersburg for audition to Mishin's group. One was accepted, the other was not.

So, here's a little mental gymnastic exercise for you: how would've changed figure skating history if Zagitova was trained by Mishin?

About Liza ang her pneumonia. While it was announced that Liza will not participate in RusNats, there was an interwiev with Lazukin in which he told that a week ago he just got well, but he cought a cold. In my theory Andrey is the one to blame in Liza's illness
The prescription for healf is not to kiss your boyfriend just before the important competition :agree2:

I personally do not support such skate out, and I think that, if rusfed decides to take Stasya's spot away, Liza should go as 1st alternate. Why?
1. Body of work
2. In recent years, rusfed did no skateoffs. This creates a very dangerous precedent. Because everybody who bombed rusnats will want a skateoff. And should have one, since if Zhenya deserves it, why not for example Anna / Alexandra or Alena in case they bomb rusnats next year and don't get a sport. If such skateoff is not done next year with the alternates, that would be utterly unfair to them.

For better or worse, RusFed can do whatever they want re: spots. Unlike the US, for example, who decides their spots immediately after Nationals, regardless of what happens after at competitions like 4CCs. There are pros and cons to each strategy.

I do not think there would be a skate-off this year if Stasya hadn't bombed Euros OR if Liza was healthy enough to compete at Russian Nationals. These are unique circumstances.

But there will be more depth than ever in Russian senior ladies next year. The more great skaters there are, the more RusFed can mess around with picking the three best to send to Worlds.

Feb 25. I am not sure how difficult it is to change for reasons other than illness/injury vs this person is in better shape to compete.

When is russian cup final? Has an entry list been released?

Juniors:
SP: 20 February, 19.30 - 21.00 msk (Moscow local time)
FP: 21 February, 15.00 - 16.45 msk (Moscow local time)

Ladies:
SP: 21 February, 19.00 - 20.45 msk (Moscow local time)

The full list is unknown yet, but Evgenia Medvedeva and Stanislava Konstantinova are already in the tournament. Tuktamysheva should give an answer until the end of this week.
1tv.ru channel will stream all the events (include practices) at 21 and 22 February at website (with geoblocking, probably somebody will re-stream for the world).

Do you know the livestream / results page, and what time zone did you put the times in?

Those start and finish times are in Sakhalin Standard Time. To get your time, deduct the hours in the list above from the time.

For example, Moscow time = SP starting at 4 pm Sakhalin = 8 am Moscow. (Abkhazia = Moscow time)

New Yorkers can watch it starting at midnight on Wednesday.

LAers (?) can watch it starting "yesterday" at 9 pm (Tuesday). (Note, I made a correction for PST.)

Livestream: you may be fortunate and find the following page streaming.

This is covering all 12 sports but I'm sure they'll include the figure skating. May need a vpn.
