i wonder why they give Danielian late assignment even though he was JWC medalist, well RusFed didnt give Ignatov one (yet) even though he was JGPF qualifier. so far Iakovlev and Gumennik have 2 assignment but it may change if they messed up their 1st event so there is possibility to change.

It's what his coach wanted. The article is posted in this thread.

I read he is injured. If so, he's probably isn't ready to compete and the Fed will not force him.

These are provisional assignments and Iakovlev isn't keeping two. Gumennik is the only one left with a stable 3 axel, there are no more 3 axel guys left except for Danielian (who is assigned), Ignatov, and Mozalev (who is assigned), maybe Murashov, who will skate tomorrow, but I don't think he landed one at test skates.

ETA: the only guys that have not been assigned are Polianskii and Semenenko.

Danielian and Gumennik at the same event makes no sense.

Aren't those two the best talents in juniors Russia has right now?

Is Igor Efimchuk still skating for Russia?

Efimchuk is a senior now. He has gone missing cause no one knows if he has retired or not (someone said he had Asthma and likely retired but you know, reliable source (?). He was seen practicing this summer so  but he's not competing this week either so :confused2:

Shame, he was one of my favourites last season.

Good SP by Yakovlev in Kaunas though, he's in first place.

Predictable, Iakovlev was replaced by Kovalev for Ostrava (JGP #5).

ETA: Russian fed and their planning :scowl:

Hmm, I guess Iakovlev will get 2 JGP if he'll win this...
Kinda funny how much RusFed doesn't believe in him

Well it remains to be seen how he will do in the FS...and he wasn't amazing today, just better than all the other mediocre performances. He is nothing special in my opinion, but nobody stands out this season so far. Hope Petr will bring it next week.

Disagree i think he has a nice posture, good transitions, good flow out of the jumps.

I'm not sure whether he'll win this or not, Andrew Torgashev and Yuto Kishina are also really good. Still a silver medal would be a great achievement for him.
