Wasn't it SUPER under? Like, a downgrade?

Nice first half of a program from Ting, shame about the fall on the 3F(?). Anyone know who was with her, coach-wise?

ETA: Or was it overrotated? I can't count rotations worth a crap, especially in less-than-stellar quality video when I am supposed to be working lol.

looked clean to me. The turn on the landing had nothing to do with the rotation. Maybe slightly overrotated.

Broadmoor Open, Senior Ladies Combined Event SP, Jun 21:

Alysa Liu: https://youtu.be/bY5BIhe2tGg (5:20). 43.26 + 27.34 = 71.00 [ETA, correction: PCS must have been 27.74; sorry, hard to read]

Ting Cui: https://youtu.be/cQ038q1sxNg (6:21). scores are hard to read … 56.32 total, I think???

Nice skates by both ladies.

I like that Alysa is puttin the 3A out there consistently. In addition to being able to execute it, the hard part is executing it during a competition. Over-rotated here but a strong attempt. I worry that her technique on that jump won't survive her growing (super tight curve, little height, minimal distance) but I guess we'll see. Still, I think it's awesome that she's going for it. Her inclusion of the 3A will hopefully push the other juniors to step it up. That's what our junior skaters need: motivating competition.

Despite the less exciting music (even though I love "Rhapsody/Paganini") Ting pulled off a strong performance. I just hate that she can't seem to stay focused. She's a skater I want to get excited about. Strong basics, the power is there in the jumps...I just hope she develops that competitive focus. That FCSp was pretty awful though. I thought she was going to fall:eeking:

Ting got two deductions in the SP---I know she fell on the solo triple, but wasn't sure why she got another deduction.

Probably a time deduction. She definitely finished behind the music...

Alysa skated a very similar free to CCIAA. Landed the first 3a combo, popped the second one to a single and then went clean the rest of the way! 76 TES and won the title w/out a question.

Hanna Harrell also skated well for herself. She needs to work on better flow and movement but I am proud of her. Just under 70 TES and 2nd place:)

No video for Ting yet but looks like the FS didn't go too well.. 43 TES :(

Oh Ting. So much potential. I hope she skates well enough at her first JGP event this year (I assume she will get one) to get a second one. Competitive experience will benefit her.

Alysa has nerves of steel. But she's tiny and will grow. I hope to see her skating skills develop this season. And I'm excited to see what she does in the Aerial Challenge!

ETA: I like the height Hannah gets on her jumps, but she has no neck and I get major Radionova vibes from how she carries herself, posture-wise.

Has anyone seen Bradie's new programs?? I know she kept the same choreographer but I sure hope he is more creative and gives a more mature looking programs this year. With all of her talent, I'd love to see her win a GP and make the GPF. It would set her up well for Nationals and Worlds.

Oyy, that's twice of the same mistake for Alysa... maybe they're too close together for her to properly regroup and set up for the second one.
... and Ting, aww man... :(
I wish Hanna could get her act together -- she's got beautiful jumps but when a good free for her involves a fall and a turn-out... she really needs whatever Alysa has

Karen posted on IG that she hopes to get another shot at the 2022 Olympics. It'll be hard work, but she can do it! It's good that she's already determined, but now she has to use that determination to get it all together. She should start training 3A (and in my delulu mind 4Lz too, lol.) now so she can add it in a few seasons if she wants to be competitive for a while.

Does anyone have any update on her coaching situation?

Alysa 3As are getting better. I think hunk this weekend the rotation was far less questionable than a few weeks ago. With more time and more competitions in sure she'll have a stable 3A for next season. Just in time since more ladies are going to have them on tn Junior Circuit.

I feel like a new age of advance jumping is coming for ladies next season.

Fantastic progress! Alysa TE 43.26 - JGPF 2017 Samodurova 36.84, Panenkova 38.07, Kihira 38.65, Tarakanova 39.56, Kostornaia 41.42, Trusova 42.96. Flawless 3A GOE+4. Purest Lutz in cascade GOE+4 - Trusova with her 3Lz+3Lo is far behind. Kostornaya can only dream of such StSq4 GOE+5 and sophisticated multivariant spins GOE+4. Though the last was on two skates, if this correct TE could be 45+. It seams JW 2018 champion has already been determined.

IN the JGP, you can’t do a 3A in the SP.

Well, the 3A+3T, if she’s feeling bold... which she does seem to be. It’s still 1.40 points higher than the 3Lz+3Lo with the new base value changes.

Maybe we shouldn’t feed the trolls?

Maybe we shouldn’t. Although the presence of troll implies that she’s being viewed as a potential threat.

Sigh. Stop the trolling. Alysa is amazing. She isn’t up to the level of the top Russian juniors yet but she still has another year to develop before competing against them.

Oh, she's more than ready to compete against the top junior Russian girls. What can they do that she cannot? You better believe she's going to amp up her jump difficulty as time goes on. She is very capable of beating any one of them fair and square. Her only battle will be the panel of biased european/japanese judges ( yes, I am calling it right now).

I really can't wait to see what the next four years bring for Karen. I think her big focus right now needs to be making sure that she gets the proper support from her coaching and choreographing team so that she can focus entirely on bringing her technical ability to the next level. While I absolutely adore many of the programs she's choreographed herself (and honestly if that's what she's producing herself at 18, she's got A Lot of talent for choreo), she's still so young and I think needs that bit of extra support to bring her programs to their full potential. And I definitely don't want to have to watch her struggle and make difficult last-minute decisions to change programs because they were never where they needed to be in the first place.

Anyways, I'm PUMPED for Fire Dance to be her next program, fierce Karen is best Karen!
