On a positive note, I haven't seen anywhere that there will be a fee for the stream so hopefully it will remain free throughout the competition.

I think their motto is "if you really cared, you'd be in the arena".

Did you ever look at the stands?
Not too many people in the arena...

And yet there are some excellent competitors here, in many of the events.

Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier in and Natalia Kaliszek & Maxsym Spodyriev in Sr. Dance.

The Greens in Jr. Dance

Jason Brown, Mikhail Kolyada, Alexander Samarin, Anton Shulepov, Daniel Grassl, Alexander Majorov in Senior Men's (awesomeness!!!)

Anastasiia Gubanova, Maria Sotskova ,and Bradie Tennell in sr. ladies

While the senior pairs do not have any of my favs, there are a lot of middle of the pack folk, and it should be an interesting, well fought competition. My biggest interest would be to see whether Cain & Leduc can beat the Knierim's.

Men's group 2 could almost be a GP group! Hoping there's a redemption skate for Misha, I really like his SP. And that Jason can repeat his IdF magic :luv17:

Daniel Grassl could be a real podium contender, especially going last. His SP best is 83+ and he's done very well at his recent Senior B competitions.

It's Thursday. There might be more people there in the afternoon for seniors, but who knows. Most Challengers don't really attract large audiences.

Speaking from Nepela live experience - if a competition is happening on Thu/Fri, there won't be crazy number of ppl on stands as I saw in Bratislava. In Saturday it was way more people:):):)

Poor attendance can happen in Challenger events held in a non-dominant country. I was at ONT 2015 where Jason, Kolyada (although he was relatively unknown ATM), Medvedeva, Pogorilaya, Gilles & Poirier, Shibs, Stolbova & Klimov, Tarasova & Morozov among others and the stadium was almost empty. It is little sad, but it can also be considered as a hidden gem for the hardcore fans to attend, as the tickets usually cost next to none (in some occasions don't even exist), atmosphere is quite relaxed and you can sit and move around as you like and no one says anything, and you can walk up to the skaters and chat without any security guards butting in to shoo you away (all of course as long as you use your common sense and behave, that is) ;):agree:

The line-up is bonkers - Daniel is one of the most interesting young & upcoming male skaters up there for me, I am interested how he will fare among more experienced ones. As usual, my heart is there for Jason and Mikhail - hopefully Mikhail will approach this competition with more 'relaxed' approach mentally, not looking like he's analysing everything beforehand so hard.

I am so excited for Daniel, too!!! I adore his performance skills, and do believe he will catch up and surpass Rizzo to represent Italy if he continues his progress (and hopefully correct his posture which gets very poor occasionally)!!! Fingers tightly crossed for Jason and Mikhail to perform to their best as well!!! My nerves are already in crisis :drama:

Agreed 100%. And I really hope Mikhail has some confidence-boosting performances going into nationals...

I think Daniel will surpass Matteo, if not this year then next. Matteo is a more rounded skater, but Daniel has such potential in that area, and he has the bigger tech content by quite a long way. I know what you mean about the posture, but it already seems a lot better from the JGPs...

MGstyle - you went to IdF right? Did we meet at all?

Quite possible that we might have seen each other, or at least certainly you have seen my banners, 2 of which were also captured close up on TV (Starry Starry Piper & Paul, and "Slay Deniss Slay") - I was near the corner on the judge's side, furthest from the entrance!)

Not sure if I saw you, but definitely those banners! Both awesome

If anyone is actually in the Arena at Golden Spin and watched Men's short practice, did you happen to notice who is Jason Brown's coach for this event?
