2018 Olympic Season: Ice Dance

My apologies to their fans but I do hope C/L are nowhere near the OG podium. I want three original programs on that podium. I am sort of annoyed by all this recycled material; Shibs, C/L, W/P, blah, blah, blah. I thought I would enjoy JSM the second time around but instead it fell flat for me. I'm all for V/M and P/C having the first two spots but I'd like some original choreo to take the bronze. These tired retreads are driving me nuts and I don't like it. :mad:

Well C/L’s FD isn’t the usual AnnaLuca program. Not a fun dance. The music is lyrical and melancholy, the story is about a tragic love. The whole program is really moving. I’ve never seen them telling a story like this. So much emotions.

I think this program will easily become my favorite program of them :luv17:. And the costumes :thumbsup:

I agree. Really nice program with a lot of emotion from both skaters. I think they are real contenders for the bronze.

I am also one of the 5 people who liked this program, basically because it was something different from what they had done before.

:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Seriously, Luca as brutal Death? Give me two! :love:

My question though is if the memory of Domnina and Shabalin's "Spartacus" from 2009 worlds is still too "fresh" in people's minds. Ice dance has progressed since then and D/S's limitations are more apparent now, but it also made a very strong impression and was probably their career performance. Perhaps W/P just want to get away from being compared to them?

I do love the "Je Suis Malade" program but they had their moment with it at 2012 worlds, when they brought the house down in front of a French audience. My only hope is that they deliver on the performance aspect and at least have the satisfaction of delivering their best with it at the Olympics (and possibly get a team medal if they are allowed to share the dance assignment).

The only thing d/s is known for now is aboriginal if They aren’t totally forgotten. No one agreed with or liked their world title or programs

I blocked out that aboriginal dance, AKA "the program that killed Natalia Linichuk's choreography career".

You must be kidding me. :palmf: Let's wait till we see Ch/Ba. Right now I would even want to see Co/Bu win that bronze. If only Penny wasn't recovering from injury. I really like both of their programs.

Of course I'm kidding. But yes, for sure it is the program they haven't done before :p
Co/Bu are fun to watch but they are far from being Olympic medal pair, particularly in terms of technique.

I honestly know this will never happen but since the season started my dream poduim for 2018 is:
1. V/M
2. S/S
3. Three way tie between H/D, W/P and B/H

:party2::dev3:

I guess I can ask this in any other the Olympic season threads, but this one was at the top. How are the start orders for the short going to be organised? Will it be like 2014 and the top 10-12 in world standings are randomly sorted between the two final groups? Or will it be like the GP series? It's interesting because European skaters have an "extra" competition since most skaters heading to the Games skip 4CCs as the timing is quite close.

Coomes/Buckland are alot more than "fun to watch" and their technique has improved under Shpillband. They have one of the best Latin SDs with the best quality music as far as I'm concerned. The way the Samba section reprises "History of Love" before the close is glorious. Their FD is gorgeous and they choreographed it themselves, with borrowed Lifts from T & D. Kudos to them for following the British tradition of creating your own choreo. Penny's knee is recovered thankfully. Unfortunately they have to languish in Challengers and smaller events due to the disgusting unfairness of being shut out of the GPs. So the Toronto Czechs get an invitation to Russia, but no British couple does? Fear & Gibson finished higher at Euros and Worlds than other couples competing in the GPs. But still GB doesn't have an assignment. How is that remotely fair? FS is a Sport that prides itself on the principles of Equality. But in truth, it is far from that.
