2018 Rostelecom Cup Men's Short Program

Mishin’s soul temporarily left his body and took the form of a background event.

 I feel like Mishin must be missing Plushy... "Where's my consistent skaters at?"

Wow, Paul's going well here!

That costume looks just like what the accountant at my work wears....

Paul FENTZ (GER)
Blue Skies
in blue shirt with grey faux-tie and oddly baggy/ill-fitting grey pants

pocketography to start
3A
3T-3T nice
is it just me or is the crotch on those pants cut really low?
FCSp
CSSp
wait suddenly mournful song turned into peppy upbeat thing
3Lz hangs on

Now that's more like it.

I'm trying to decide if the ill-fitting pants are a deliberate fashion choice or if the German fed needs to give him more money for costumes. Given this is the guy who brought us jazz Wonderwall I'm leaning towards the former.

Well, just a pop on that quad toe. Better than Andrei.

And still no music during the replay.

Nice job by him, but that song is SO 1950s/1960s musical. I was expecting Bobby Van to start dancing in the background.

Paul Fentz

- Good 3A, a bit scratchy on landing but nice air position (+2)
- Wonderful 3T+3T, smooth and easy (+2)
- A bit of a struggle on the catchfoot of the camel spin, but good speed (+2)
- Fairly good sit spin (+2)
- Fine landing on the 3Lz (+1)
- Turns have some snow, could have more commitment to the music, Level 3 (+1)
- Back entry into combo spin, last position won't count (somehow still Level 4) (+1)

This program has strong lines at times, but he needs to work on his expression. It doesn't read "blue skies and blue birds" so much as an "office interview".

That was great! Although maybe his shirt should have been a lighter blue to evoke the blue skies.

This no music replay makes me sad.

Pretty sure these are the same pants from Wonderwall.

They're a bit distracting to look at in the K&C.
