Anyone attending?

I see Larkyn Austman and Eric Liu are skating, but I was unable to see this afternoon's events on the LS because I only heard this was going on this weekend an hour or two ago. Will look at the archived streams later...

Anybody watching the Junior Women's free right now? I've got one eye on it while I finish some work (the joys of working on a long weekend!) ;)

I watched a bit of the Junior Women's SP yesterday. Gran was the only one who went for a 3-3 (3t-3t<). Good on her for going for it!
Was impressed by Cotop's presence on the ice and the sense of smoothness and grace in her skating.

Has Aurora changed coaches? Here she was with Ravi Wallia. I really liked her new program. I am sure it will grow. The first Toe was so big, I thought she wil through a 3-3, but she chose to stay safe so it was just 3-2. Easy win for Aurora.

I thought it was likely that her coach just didn't make the trip with her from Ontario and Ravi stood in as a proxy. But I'm just guessing.
I really enjoyed her new LP also, and looking forward to how develops through the season!

Aurora has great presentation skills and musicality. But I have to agree that technically, she is at a disadvantage. A program with one flip, two toeloops and two salchows just isn't competitive internationally. She used to have a lutz---where has it gone?

That would make sense, but I wonder what the reason was for choosing Wild Rose over Minto.
ETA: from another thread, it seems Aurora is training with Ravi for the summer, so I guess that's what Ravi was with her and why she chose Wild Rose.

Are 2 bonus points awarded in novice for a triple as the second jump?

I am certain she will grow. It’s early in the season. I wouldn’t be worried at this point. Maybe her lutz isn’t consistent but it will come.

My favourite skater of the competition was Emma Bulawka, in junior women. Last year she had style, especially in her long program (which she repeated this year), but this year she's showing signs of potentially very good skating overall. The more familiar jumps for her (toe and salchow) were done with beautiful flow, distance and height.

There is still a lot of technical content that has to be added or become consistent if she is to become a real force, but I will watch her with great interest to see if she can fulfill her obvious potential.

Thanks for the clarification re: Aurora's coaching situation, Scout. Sounds like a good summer opportunity for Aurora with Ravi (and Kaetlyn!)

And thanks for the heads up re: Emma Bulawka, geoskate. I didn't actually see her skate at Wild Rose, but I'll have to watch out for her in future!
