2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

If this were a competition, would be my positions:

What are your opinion?
My overall ranking would be:
1. Trusova
2. Zagitova
3. Kostornaia
4. Shcherbakova
5. Tuktamysheva
6. Konstantinova
7. Medvedeva
8. Samodurova

Didn't know where to put Liza as her program was not performed according to ISU requirements.

I haven't seen all of the girls yet, but as I heard Alina went clean also in her free. I think that if that's the way she keeps skating into the season, she'll definitely have a spot on the National Team. The second one is Sasha, and the third goes between the rest, most probably either Anna or Liza, whereas I'll bet on Anna. She (Anna S) seems to have worked very hard in the off-season and shows tremendous improvement. Skating skills up-ed, spirals, expression - it's all there. And of course TES, yes she fell on the 4Lutz, but as far as I could tell it was fully rotated and she did well on her other jumping passes.

I realy love Liza but her spins are not so good, and she has no choreography so she is not so lock for worlds

Maybe, but 3 3As is just an overload of tech. Her program jump-tech is essentially Kihira last year with a 2A instead of 3S in the free skate and she almost went completely clean across both programs. I personally don't think her choreo is as doom and gloom as people try to make out, although spins are weak.

Giving credit where deserved.

I would switch Kostornaia and Shcherbakova. Kostornaia made mistakes on her 3lz and step sequence.

Well Liza have amazing jumps but her choreography is just not existing. Its like some gala program with weird moves "invented" 24 hours back by some "expert".

I was not a fan of Sasha and Liza's performance content, but the tech was impressive and performed excellently. No others can possibly match them (maybe Anna but I don't think so). At the moment, it looks like these two would be a lock for Worlds if they can keep up, and then the next spot is a choice between Anna/Alina(/Zhenya/Aliona...maybe wishful thinking).
Liza's skate was fantastic, she is phenomenal athlete, clearly devoted to the sport, but if she skates before or after sb like Alina and Anna, the judges might realize the importance of skating skills and choreo in the protocol.
If you put average artistic skater next to her triple axels, they may overlook her deficiences, but if you put clean Alina or Anna there, it becomes significant, I think.

I don't know about her free because I haven't seen it yet, but in the watered down choreography of Shae Lynn from yesterdat it was obvious that she's also lacking in basic skating skills. I hope she really works on that, reducing the choreo won't helpt her at all.

I don't think she will. It's been years and still the same. Her/Mishin only see skating as jumps and nothing else.

We will see next week when Liza and Anna competes at Lombardia Trophy. I think Anna will win if she lands the quad, but if she doesn't and Liza lands her 3A's it will be interesting to see what the judges will do.

Anyone got links to all the programs? I‘d like to rewatch them because my stream wasn‘t working properly.

Devoted sure... but why don't they work on her skating skills and spins... those don't change from year to year

Aliona said she will most likely go to Finlandia Trophy? Can anyone confirm?

I think entry lists for Finlandia will come out this week, but it seems likely that we'll see her there. Samodurova, Shcherbakova, and Tuktamysheva are scheduled for Lombardia, Medvedeva to Autumn Classic, and Konstantinova, Sotskova, and Trusova to Nepela. Alyona and Alina have the later GPs, so I'm assuming at least one of them will go to Finlandia.

Spins are problematic for her, because of her past back problems, but Mishin's camp neglects skating skills and choreo for sure.

I was wondering why there's something red visible through Anna's dress but I didn't expect that. Not sure what to think about dress-changes in competition in general but this one was beautifully done!

It's such a shame about her back injury. She had quite a nice Biellmann back in her junior days. I think she probably does the best she can with the variations that are available to her, but they're not always the most graceful looking.

I think if Anna misses the quad and Liza lands 3 3As across both programs along with everything else Liza will win. Anna will get the nod in PCS but they will keep Liza close enough, same as they keep Sasha close to Alyona in PCS even though there is no comparison.

Thoughts on the free skate:

Trusova -> the quads were incredible, especially the two 4Ts. I'm not a big fan of the program, beautiful cantilever, both the 3ltzes were a little shorter than usual.

Tuktamysheva -> Technically only Trusova can beat her: with 2 Triple Axels she has more difficult contents than Zagitova and the quality of the jumps is just so much better than everyone else here. Artistically, it's another one of those programs, not much going on but at least she engages the audience and she have fun on the ice.

Samodurova -> i really like the program, she performs it well, there is an actual choreography and she has terrific expression on the ice. Too bad for the fall, this was better than the short.

Medvedeva -> i like what they are going for with the programs, with that music for the steps sequence i'd like to see a little more she still needs to improve her skating skills, you can see the power and height in the 3s suggesting the quad could be there, the axel is still not super consistent.

Konstantinova -> program is a work in progress, i thought it was absolutely empty, she maybe even forgot the choreography considering she couldn't even finish the last spin, improvements on the jumps compared to last season. Still a lot to work on here.

I haven't watched Zagitova (geoblocked) and Shcherbakova yet.

Liza was never flexible even as a junior
