Get well soon!Y’all giving me heart attacks. I’m too old for this sh....enanigans. I read Edwin’s post and thought he (or she) was referring to Kostornaia. Considering the rumors....
Anyways, WHEW! I’m rooting for Kostornaia and Tuktamysheva. I really want those two on the podium, but I’m a bit afraid for Tuktamysheva. I feel that even if she lands on the podium with the skates of her life, RusFed will start doing backflips and backbends to justify leaving her off the World team.
I’m also worried about her layout. I don’t think her watered down layouts were due to a perceived stupidity of her coaching team. I think it was due to a lack of stamina and conditioning - an inability to do a difficult layout after adding the second 3A. I want to see 4T and two 3As from Tuktamysheva. But these things won’t help her if she’s doing 2A sequences and loading up her layout with doubles. Or if the 4T replaces a 3A. Of course, I’m assuming that she attempts the 4T. Honestly, though, I think she needs to. She doesnt have much choice. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

That being said, I think that Liza has been robbed a lot, and the fact that she was left off of the Worlds team last year was absurd (call me crazy, but I would have put her on it over Samodurova. She had won Europeans, but it was pretty clear that it was unlikely she would place at Worlds, and Liza had beat her every time they competed against each other). It is so sad that she is in a country where her crazy consistent 3As don't put her in the top three, but unfortunately that is the case.
You're not crazy. I would also have had Tuktamysheva over Samodurova even at Europeans last year. I'm pretty sure Liza would have won. And then there would have been no question who to send to Worlds. But would she had medalled at Worlds? I'm not sure. Medvedeva was very very lucky to get that bronze, and her PCS saved her. Liza don't have that safety net.
If she performed like she did at WTT, she might have medalled, but she definitely would have come close, and for sure would have placed above Samodurova. Not to knock Samodurova, because she did great at keeping her consistency and being a back up for keeping 3 spots (although it ended up that they didn't need that because Zagitova and Medvedeva did so well), but Liza could've given Russia a third podium contender. For Europeans, idk what was going on then but maybe she hadn't recovered fully since it was so close to Nats. Otherwise she absolutely could've (and probably would've) been European champion if she'd been sent. A real shame.

I like Tuktamysheva and want her to do well, and if she landed on the podium it would be really sad if she didn't go to Worlds, but I don't think it would be completely unjustified. The 3A swept the Grand Prix and final podiums, and have the three season's highest total scores by a mile. Even if Tuktamysheva were to beat one of them, they still have out-performed her this season. Of course, if she suddenly adds the 4T and is consistent with it then that is a different story, but so far, she's been placed behind the 3A score-wise. Whether that much of a gap is deserved or not is up to opinion, but RusFed's job is to send those who are most likely to score the highest, and so far that has been the 3A, by a lot. But anyways, my point is that they won't really have to do "backflips" to leave her off when she's been scoring way below what the 3A have been scoring all season.

Both made mistakes at the cup of Russia. Liza in the short, zhenya in the freeIdk in the past they counted a lot on Nationals results with only few exceptions, Eteri would still keep 2 skaters if Liza beats one of them so it could be possible.
That said i'm not expecting a particularly push for Liza at RN, unless they want to give her this last chance before retirement (which honestly wouldn't be a bad idea), but yeah if they give to 3A no one would be shocked.
On last season yes Liza was robbed but i'd never put it on Samodurova. She did her best at every event she has been, the european title was fully deserved beating Olympic Champion Alina Zagitova, it was a big achievement for Sonya.
Worth noting that up until Europeans Liza was not fully recovered yet, that said to this day i still believe that if that Cup Final event was held outside of Russia, judges would have easily put Liza above Zhenya. If they both skated clean i could have seen Zhenya deservedly above, but the fact that she made mistakes and those were very overlooked. But it doesn't matter anymore.
How do people speak that Tuk could win silver or bronze? 3A should be at worlds & euros, they are clearly the 3 best skaters in history

I'm sorry to hear this. Nastya really needed to be there with quality skates.
I like all three Anastasias. They are very unique and talented. But there's something missing with all three of them and I can't really put my finger on it other than consistency.
Looks more like this RusNats will answer the question who is to be sacrificed among 4A? One is down, and at least one more on the way.How do people speak that Tuk could win silver or bronze? 3A should be at worlds & euros, they are clearly the 3 best skaters in history
