Oh, poor Zhenya. The only things I know about breaking into new skates are from 'Ice Princess' movie, where the main character performs badly after getting new skates before competition lol. I really hope it turns out better for Evgenia. Also, whoever manages to create boots that feel comfortable from the first day could probably become a billionaire.

Skaters are a lot more used to breaking in boots than that movie character but yeah...it can be very uncomfortable and cause problems.

I still remember the blisters and hobbling around in pain from trying to break in new boots as quickly as possible.
I feel for Zhenya...it is going to be a very uncomfortable competition for her, I hope it doesn't damage her confidence.

I hope she doesn‘t injure herself. Skating a competition on completely new boots... Like, it didn‘t even break on the first day of practice but the day before the competition... this way she basically has no time whatsoever to break them in.

I've complained about this before, but the mod team should keep zero day posters under close scrutiny until they have established themselves as being of good intent. Too many of those zero day characters pop up in sensitive topics making bold and often insidious, even aggressive statements, just for the purpose of creating a row and disappear quickly thereafter. Only to register a new account and start over again.

Those skates are destroyed, Scott. She is not wearing new boots for the fun of it. Her old boots broke today and she had to get new skates, even a model she usually does not skate in (she got Ice Fly skates today, usually she skates in Pianos)

Thank you for the info. This is unfortunate timing. But don't skaters bring more than one pair of skates with them to competitions? I mean tennis players don't bring one pair of sneakers to competitions they bring many just in case. I hope this does not unsettle evgenia.

I think her skates broke before, not only in today's practice because in today's practice she already wore the new boots. And at least in practice she apparently jumped just fine. I saw someone saying she did look relaxed.

New. Ok i just read that she came with new boots to this competition and her new bootsbrkke so she had to get new new ones. Anyone knows if this is true?

The new boots were bought after she broke her skates according to RusFed. They are also a different model, not Edea Pianos.
