Many today's top skaters were somewhere in the middle of the starting field at the age of cca 10-12. Yes, Titova has defeated Rubtsova (which caused that of four titles at the russian novice championships Eteri's team won "only" three, shame [emoji3]), but how this will keep in time? E.g. Veronika Zhilina was much less consistent a year ago when she came to Eteri than she is now and if you compare her with Titova (who is only half year younger) it's a big difference. I don't say Titova can't be a top skater under Plushenko, but I won't call that as somehow significant omen about how strong his school is.
