The ISU won't have to think about it. This is a competitive sport. If you make an invalid choice, either it will be caught during local federation monitoring or some coach for your competition will report it. The it's-not-gonna-work message will go out, preferably before the competitive season but otherwise during it. And any team looking at losing points will start again. The same as Chock & Bates and Weaver & Poje did with their RDs at the start of 2015-16.

There was a good musical version of the Great Gatsby that some skater(s) used recently. (I'm thinking two seasons ago?) Can't remember who it was or what discipline or even what age group now.

There may have been more than one, but I'm quite partial to Ashley Cain and Tim LeDuc's 2017-18 FS to the Great Gatsby. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kulsmZFEzY4.
I don't know whether or not it conforms to the ID requirements, but it's fun duet music.

Whether that's the case or not, I've really enjoyed the discussion and found it informative and interesting. And hey, it's not "off topic"! :)

You're right. Teams are required to submit the name of the musical(s)/operetta(s) along with their music information this season. At the meeting - I think the one at Worlds last year - the panel literally told the coaches they would have to do it "so that you don't trick us".

I'm unfamiliar with this skater, but that music choice has definitely caught my attention.

I'm looking forward to seeing this.

eva lotta is one of my favourite juniors, she seems like someone who usually thinks out of the boxes as thi music can prove. i'm looking forward to this, hoping she can be also more consistent

Not the super-classic recording by the Animals, 1964? :)

Actually, she should use a lady singer version with the original lyrics, "it's been the ruin of many a poor girl ..."

It (All That Jazz) should considering it's the best film musical ever.

Not West Side Story? ;)

Best stage musical: Chorus Line.

Was there something in the bottled water at worlds that led to this onslaught of vaguely Middle Eastern inspired music choices? What relation does TE Lawrence have with Cleopatra? I mean, the movie has a great soundtrack, so why not, but still wth?

Last season we had the Tango mania, this one will be Oriental themed. Well, at least Middle Eastern music won't be required in Rhythm Dance.

1. Middle East is so big and diverse. There are 3 or 4 skaters with oriental music, hardly "onslaught" :)))

2. ( copy paste from another board) It's not a bad idea, not using movie music, since Hollywood really got Cleopatra wrong, especially the violet-eyed Elizabeth Taylor one. Some literature also "helped"!

I recommend the book Cleopatra: A Life by Stacy Schiff - knocks down the old Hollywood image of the Queen of Egypt

I'm not objecting, just surprised! You have to admit it's a little funny that three of the top ladies decided to go with "out of the box" music choices and ended up with similar programs. ^^

I didn't think Samson & Delilah worked for her. (Far preferred her Don Quixote that season). And I'm sure I've seen as much of The Feeling Begins as needed. This just feels like another warhorse in her chest to me. (And granted that strategy has been working just fine for her).

I do like the story of Cleopatra though.
