Because it has been a few years since I last watched the Japanese Championships, there are a lot of skaters that have come through who I have not seen before (and, by extension, a lot of skaters that I am familiar with who are not competing). So, this is largely going to be based on best scores.

The only change I made to the absolute PB order in the Ladies was to push Wakaba Higuchi down out of the Top 5. As you know, I have been a fan of Wakababy for years. But, I have to be realistic and admit that she is not scoring as high this season as we are used to. It pained me to push her down, but I only pushed her as far as being my alternate.

Men presented a dilemma. Not so much for the Gold medal – I’m not looking past Yuzuru for that. But, I really want Shoma to be standing to his right on the podium. To make up for what has happened so far this season. The problem is, with the way things have gone so far, I’m not sure if he can do it.

My next favoured scenario is for Daisuke Takahashi to do it. I have always been a massive Takahashi fan. And it would just be the perfect send off to his Singles career before he heads off to Ice Dance (I assume that is still happening).

In the end, I decided to have faith in Shoma. But I still put Daisuke onto the podium, in third position. Which was actually their absolute PB order anyway. In fact, the only change I made to the absolute PB order was to put Yamamoto ahead of Sato.

I’m not sure, but I reckon I’m on for a Gold Medal in Pairs.

In Ice Dance, of course I am putting Mr. and Mrs. Koleto in the top spot.For the less experienced partnerships, they were ordered purely by PB’s.

Fingers crossed that we will be able to watch it this year.

Hi Cake, I think I also have 45 points. I have Rika in 1st for 15 points, Yuhana in 5th for 15 points, Satoko in 3rd but she was 4th so 10 points, and Wakaba in 4th but she was 2nd so 5 points. Could you please check? Thanks!
