Ooh, best of luck for the bid!
That would make the first Canadian Worlds in 11 years...I don't have a strong favourite for host city, but it would be nice if Montreal gets the chance that it missed last year.

It seems like IAM was able to get Reed & Ambrulevicius into the country from overseas somehow, so some more of the foreign athletes who normally train here may start to return.

not so sure about that... I am sure that the R/A arrival was planned months ahead...accordingly to the post, they would be on the ice next Monday... which means they would be in quarantine for a little while already. Quebec is going through a severe lockdown right now, with a curfew from 8pm to 5am.... our premier has asked several times to the federal government to shut down traveling for non-residents... i would be very surprised if athletes started flocking back... as a matter of fact, a friend of mine who is a student was denied access to the country even with her student visa... I am not saying teams won't be coming back.. but i wouldn't call victory yet until the situation is better, and until vaccination is more advanced.

Challenge : senior pairs was interesting to watch.
MTM2.0 it was a good choice for them to compete at Challenge. They need to fine tune a lot of things, throws, jumps : slight mistakes here and there... the last lift came down.... but they still were better than everyone else, as of course, they are a top international team.
in Second : Matte-Ferland who did skate extremely well. I have been following them since juniors and I just love them. They are small, he is super strong... reminding a bit of Sui-Han... but totally different style of skating and interpretation.. they are young, fit and full of passion and energy... the program was clean until they also had their last lift not got up...
in Third Stellato-Deschamps : Maxime is a dream of a partner.. i would definitely "die in his arms" as he is so strong and stable.. (they skated to I want to die in your arms)... everything was spectacular, even the falls on both throws.. too bad really... but they are really amazing to watch. Inventive choreography and innovative pair moves.
McIntosh-Mimar came in fourth with a clean program featuring triples all the way except for a 2a on the SBS. They are extremely promising as a new team.. by far, the best new team from all the ones who have merged this spring. I really like them and I hope they keep skating together for a few more seasons, until we see their full potential. I will call them Mimi from now on.

The top six senior pair teams at Challenge are through to nationals for sure. Andrew/Adcock are almost certainly in as well since it seems that Ruest/Wolfe are sitting out the season due to injury, but there isn't confirmation on that.

In French, Myriam said (not sure which Myriam it is or did i mishear and it is Myriane "Samson") that there would be 8 pairs at Nationals.... so the top 8, then she corrected herself saying she had forgotten that ONE team had a bye, and named Walsh and Michaud. She said that it meant the top 7 teams plus W/M would be at Nationals, which seems to confirm that W/R are out
ETA it is in fact Myriane Samson who is commentating in French

A great evening of pairs skating in my view...and Deanna did jump up and continue skating with amazing resilience and speed! Loved her costume (with the hair do). I adored Kirsten and Michael's programme, and I'm sure they will make it even better.

Love that nickname...mimi. I was also impressed with McIntosh and Mirmar given at 16 she’s way younger than the ladies who finished ahead of them in this event and at 20 Benjamin is one of the youngest men. Lots of promise with solid senior elements already for a first year together. Hopefully continued work on that second mark, more mileage as a team and a bit more speed and they should do well the next couple of years. The other two new pairs showed some lovely skating and given most of these programs were skated 6 weeks ago no doubt we will see some triple elements in those programs by Nationals.

In the case of Brasseur and Daleman, they did triples at sectionals. A lot of people are thinking they might have had a training setback of some sort, hence the lower difficulty.
They already have a really lovely on-ice chemistry (if you merged their PCS and McIntosh/Minar's TES, you'd have an ideal pair team).

i think the ideal pair team between those four skaters will be Mimi in a couple years... they just need more experience.

I dont think she will ever be a good performer. Some things you just can't teach. B/D have the brighter future in my opinion

I am not sure Daleman is as good as Brasseur. To me, that's a weird match, though they look good together. We will see. Regarding some things you just can't teach, I disagree : in my line of work, we can see kids with much more talent than others, some who are much more expressive and have a natural ability to perform and convey emotion... however, anyone willing to really improve can make it.. and I have seen kids who were as expressive as a cardboard box become quite the performers in their late teens... so i am not willing to write Mimi off yet
It's obvious that they both wanted to make that pairing work, the way that they have gotten so many great elements so fast... if they are well guided, with proper choreo and training, they can learn to become good performers... Some people were complaining about Meagan's lack of emotional reach... whether or not she ever got there is irrelevant considering her overall achievements right?I somewhat agree, I’m not sure how much performance you can teach-but yes I agree Meagan did get the job done for many years, much more athletic then performer IMO

This is the team I found most intriguing.
I'll be following their progress, for sure.
I saw lots of improvement with them, I remember two years ago they had a tough skate at Nationals and they were the team Canada was sending to Junior worlds.
It was actually the event that sparked my interest in Patricia Andrew, came outta know where to capture silver with higher tech score then firmest place.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe Quebec has suffered the shutdowns that Ontario has, maybe their training wasn’t interrupted compared to Ontario. But either way, good for them, they done well.

you are wrong lockdown in Quebec has been the strictest in Canada since March 2020... I think athletes were only able to resume training later in the summer, if not in September.... the general lockdown ended in May but indoor sports were not allowed for the longest time... I do not remember the dates but there was definitely a training loss.... Chloe Panetta to name just one, taught her dad how to lift her so she could practice her lifts at home.... 
There is a post from Patinage Quebec on Instagram dated June 29th saying welcome back to all clubs in the province... So the lockdown was at least from March 16th to June 29th... Since then, I am not sure if the red zone changed anything in October... and now, I think that Elite sport in Quebec has been saved and rescued from the current heavy lockdown we are seeing now, which includes a curfew from 8pm to 5am... I just received an hour ago an alert on my phone reminding me that I am NOT allowed to get out of the house during the curfew... So yeah... just saying... the athletes here are just as rusty .... you will see that in junior and senior ladies... it is a disaster.

I agree. I have seen more skaters do well with strong technical than those who perform well but can’t land the elements. Of course both would be ideal. If presentation etc. can’t be taught then I wonder why so many skaters do ballet and dance to enhance their skating. I’d rather be 16 with all the senior tricks than 19 still trying to find consistency on triple throws for example. Often we see dramatic facial expressions and think that’s great second mark stuff but if you look at the second marks for the three new pairs Mimi as we’re calling them right now were only slightly behind Justine and Zach, both of whom are beautiful skaters in my opinion and ahead of Andrew and Adcock and Andrew is known for her presentation. I wouldn’t be too quick to write McIntosh off just yet. Last year I recall a thread on another forum criticizing McIntosh for zero connection with her partner and no interaction after each skate. Someone said once she gets a new partner we will know if it was her or him. Already more connection with Mirmar so there is reason to be optimistic going forward I would think.I am not sure Daleman is as good as Brasseur.
