Regarding Trusova's desire to jump and jump and jump regardless what happens around, it may frustrate coaches, indeed.

If the TTfP asked her to hold the rush and "do what is required" not "what is wanted", but she locked horns, the outcome could be not so great.
It's too expensive to hold a student which prefers the "circus" above the "sport". Not much desire for places/medals and lack of discipline may be the career ending reasons.

I can understand if Pluschenko agreed to coach her as a circus girl, but for how long?

Hello posters in the Russian Ladies' Thread!

The Russian Ladies thread is the place to discuss Russian Ladies' skaters and their coaches.

Posts about the families of the Russian Ladies or of their coaches' families derail the thread. Gossip about the families also derail the thread. Derailing and gossip are against Goldenskate guidelines.

Posts that violate guidelines will be removed, infracted or warned. Posts in the "chain of replies" may also be removed.

Thank You!

Hah! Try vegetables. Not necessary to enter the vegan or vegetative state (yes, I know the difference). The seaweed is helpful too (eat, not smoke).

I understand the not-believing. To be seen and I'm among firsts to say: "The great talent and equally great potential had been wasted. A pity."
Yet, we may be delighted to see some more Guinness/Wikipedia worth tricks. And a couple of Bronzes.

Who knows? No one can predict it.

Your comment was funny because everything was quiet already in this theme and bummm! it was totally unexpected and a little bit exaggerated ;)

I usually leave the prediction of the future to you, but I make an exception here. I assure you that Sasha will not fall off the trapeze.
I hope for that too, but wouldn't be surprised too much. She's a that kind of daredevil.

Does anybody think Trusova wants to return to Eteri. Based on recent interviews, she seems a bit nervous about being an Angel of Plushenko

It's pretty normal that she is nervous. She only started training with him a few days ago. New rink, new rinkmates, new coaching team and methods, even a new town for a while - Sasha now has to get used to it all.

Oh dear. After this question, it is better to say goodbye to the forum for a few days. I think I can't stand the answers of the usual suspects.

It's veeery early to make any conclusions about such things. Sasha's just changed a coach and has to adopt to a new environment and people, she just came back to the ice after a long break, nobody knows how it would be with the new season and many many other things. If there is any sign of nervousness, it's perfectly natural. What will be her relations with the team (and within the team) we have to wait till the competitions, or rather the whole season.

Edit: I see it was answered already in a similar way.

Let's see how this season goes first i'd say.

But i'm not sure if that is an option for her anymore, if she comes back like let's say next season she'd have to accept the fact that she would no longer be treated as Eteri's darling, and likely out of the top 3 which means no Olympics.

If this doesn't work, in her position i'd rather try abroad with Arutyunyan.

... a circus girl.

But here's the thing. Figure skating has already become a circus sport. Jump jump jump. Nathan Chen  4 quads, five quads, six quads. To see why figure skating has taken this path, just look at the Scale of Values. What gets the most points?

What interview exactly are you referring to? I didn't get that feeling from any of the ones I saw.
But of course she's nervous! Perfectly natural. Her parents made a decision that could make or break her career and she knows nothing but Eteri's rink since she was a kid. It's a big change

That's all fine and dandy when they land the jumps, Trusova's problem thus far as a senior is that she's not able to land enough quads or triple axels to beat other skaters that are competing quads or triple axels and have higher PCS. Shcherbakova only does 3 quads (2 types) but they are the highest value quads; Kostornaia while she has no quad, she does the triple axel which allows her to build a lead in the SP, that has thus far been able to hold off Shcherbakova if she falters on a quad,

True, but my point was not to predict that Trusova would beat the others. It was to point out that whoever wins or loses, figure skating has become more and more like a circus.

Not that there is anything wrong with circuses. I remember one time they asked a group of skaters what they would like to be if they couldn't be skaters. Yuka Sato said, "I always wanted to be a circus performer. ... And I guess, in a way, I am." :)

Anyway, I do not take Arbitrary's characterization of Trusova as "circus girl" as a negative, Not at all. Go, go, go and devil take the hindmost.
