Sasha's 4T+3T was awesome!

And I actually feel like I might really love Zhenya's program. Was there supposed to be a cartwheel in there or something?
Yes i think there is a cartwheel, i remember seeing it in the lpvideo where we saw zhenya and shae do a bit of choreo for this programm months ago,

This will be a season where all the artistic or semi-artistic ladies get injured or never recover from their current injuries, and the jumpers will rule the school, and maybe occasionally look up from the ice and give a facial expression, but maybe not, and we’ll hear day in and day out, What delicate sensitivity to the music!

Lol a bit shaky, u are funny. Sry to say but zhenya improved absolutely nothing, zero. Spins are awful, awful 2as, awful 3lze (no way she will ever have a true lz), she lost her 3-3-all ur; flip looks pressed even 3l is not secure anymore; ss same as always.performance alone will not win u amything. Lets face it, if she wants to continue she will be irrelevant for podiums.as cruel as it sound but probably eteri was right when she told her to concentrate on something else.

Elena Ilinykh, one of my all-time favourite ice dancer.

What a team they could have become if they only stayed together.
And that is probably one of the reasons why I am a supporter of that team, because I truly despise separating people on "elite and the rest" in any way esp. in such body like sporting team. I understand prioritizing at some special circumstances, like before the olympics, but not at normal day. And I don't think any thing is more persuading than the success of the team. Unless this would change, I don't think anything else will change.
Agreed. But Alena wanted change or some concessions from EG about the ice situation with the munchkins and EG did not give it to her so she left.
Kamila will be competing at Stages 2 and 5 of the Cup series.

This is phenomenal! I bet the latest TT phenom is up for it. I want her in the rostelecom cup too.

To zhenya apparently she wasnt even supposed to jump at all yesterday, thats why TAT looked like she did, apparently her old back injury is flaring up a bit( thats sadly a given since some spins are not easy on the back i would imagine) and it pinched a nerve if the info is correct. So on one hand i wantto scream at zhenya that she puts herself i danger on the other hand i have nothing but respect for her to come out here .

Yeah it's just as we saw with Samodurova and Kostornaya, you don't have to do this here if the program or the jumps aren't ready or if you are injured.

So good fighting spirit but if she was injured maybe not the smartest decision.

Didn't they announce recently she won't skate at senior stages? Why I'm even asking, when FFKKR announces something about the event participation, you can immediately bet on the other variant...

She did say that she was "informed that she would be performing" which almost sounds like she hasn't known for very long, so it could've been a fairly recent decision?

Probably why they put her in senior test skates in the first place. To see, if she can skate well comparatively and compete at senior stages.

I wonder if Evgenias goals for the rest of her career have remained the same. I know she was aiming for another olympic team and olympic gold after pyeongchang, but i wonder if she has reevaluated at all with her injuries and that her chances of making another team are extremely slim at this point, as happy as I would be to see her at a 2nd Olympics.

So...

There wasn’t a standout performance today, I didn’t like anyone’s skating or music choices, besides Evgenia’s Alegria, although it was really painful to watch.

What I’m gonna say here is not based on my personal preference, or based on which programs I liked the most, because all the girls skated much worse than yesterday, except maybe for Liza.

FS Ranking based on overall performance (with comments below):

1. Valieva (although I hated that program)
2. Shcherbakova
3. Trusova
4. Tuktamysheva
5. Zhenya

Now, what a terrible idea to give Bolero to a skater that is not the most expressive in terms of interpretation. Kamila’s face expression throughout any of her programs is that of a scared puppy. The choreo was horrible, worse than yesterday. The only nice parts were the first 3 seconds and the final pose. Her technique is worse. She was clearly very nervous, but she always looks nervous and scared, and that expression doesn’t fit Bolero. How much I hate Danny G for having given a 14 year old that program. And for thinking he would be able to choreograph Bolero. God. Despite all that, Kamila was the best of the night, but not because she was that great, but because everyone else was just ok.

Shcherbakova: can they please, PLEASE, give her another type of program? It’s always the same type of music, the same type of choreography, even her face expressions are recycled. She didn’t skate as well as yesterday, but I saw those replays, and I saw something I had never seen in her: A TRUE TOEPICK!!! In more than one jump. Congratulations, Anya. Also, the lutz looked less worse, if it’s possible. Yes, there’s still a lot to improve in this program, but Anna is lovely. Her jumps weren’t as good as Kamila’s in terms of landings, that’s why I didn’t give her 1st place.

Sasha: where is the “new Sasha” we saw yesterday? Jumps were great. She looked SO nervous, it’s understandable she couldn’t interpret her program very well. I hope they can improve her face expressions and the overall interpretation. She looked like her Daenerys version, maybe 10% better. I thought the music cuts would be as bad as Daria’s, but they didn’t bother me as much.

Tuktamysheva: Better than yesterday. That program is much better considering her usual programs. She really made an effort with those spins. Jumps weren’t great. I think she did well. I like the program, considering it’s limited to her choreographical abilities. She’s putting some effort on improving. It was ok.

Evgenia: dear god, it was painful. She’s most certainly injured and should have withdrawn. The program was my favorite among ladies FS today, I really liked the music cuts (but I’m a fan of Alegria and have watched it live). It’s promising. But it was painful and cringey to watch. I hope she can heal.

Overall, an underwhelming event with underwhelming programs and performances from the Ladies.

She gave 2 interviews during the off season saying her goals are to skate for herself. You could read between the lines of her interviews that she’s not aiming for Olympic Gold anymore, but she’ll keep fighting to improve. She also made it seem like she’s given up on the quad sal.

Does that mean she's going full senior???

She's just doing what 14-15 year old juniors do in Russia - compete senior at the cup events and then do both junior and senior nationals, while competing junior internationally. It just so happens that there is no JGP this year, so junior nationals and junior worlds if it happens are the only two junior events she will do. Which means that she'll be doing more senior events than junior. But she still won't be eligible for senior international events like the GP event or Euros/Worlds.

I'm curious what Daria and Maia will be doing. Probably senior also? But which stages?

Didn't change till the next frame. Still outside.

This is flat. LOL. :D
XD

I do not envy the task of the judges and tech callers. Is it this frame that they must evaluate in real time, or the frame a fifth of a second earlier of later. Is this edge an outsid-sy flat or a flat-sy outside?

Can we actually see the edges on the ice? Personally, I think the curve of the ankle supports a no call. Not textbook, but better than a lot of edges that get by.

I'd say we are nitpicking frames too much and forgetting what a Lutz is.

Is there counter-rotation in the jump or not? That's the only relevant question.
