News report it's a common cold. I really hope no one is lying on purpose, and Anna's withdrawal is just an additional pre-caution because of current epidemiological situation, and has nothing to do with covid. 
They didn't even disallow spectators, there have been so many cases in the Russian skating community...

Woww! Is Anna retiring? I'm really sorry ... I would have liked a beautiful competition between the best women in skating.
Is this virus to blame? I know that Veronika had it a few weeks before the competition. I hope it's not true. I wish you good health, Anna
Who said she's retiring? Anna is sick with pneumonia. It may be life treating condition (I almost died at age 21 due to wrong initial diagnose), but is curable in most cases. I remember some skaters were infected many years before but "survived" in means of their careers.
Unfortunately it may take a month or longer to be fit again.

Eliana's first language isn't English so I think she just meant "retiring" from this one competition not from skating altogether.
Liza had pneumonia after the 2018 GPF but recovered completely. I'm sure Anna will too.
