Ah, Gubanchik. All the talent in the world and pissed it up the wall. Such a waste. She could have been anything. I feel like she will look back with regret one day at how she conducted herself while "training" at CSKA. I know it's tempting for a young person to go a little wild when they first move out of home but nastya took the piss that year and paid a price for it.

Show skating. I don't think she'll return. She was upgraded to Master of Sports International Class last week though.
Welcome to Golden Skate.

I chose Estonia because it's close to Saint Petersburg where Nastia lives.

Why protect Eva? She ain't Alina and Alina wasnt protected anyway. Two good skaters in a low level federation is better than one.
A good way for them to grow their federation and lady skaters is taking in a couple of the Russian lady tier 3 skaters.
Estonians are too proud to import russian skater...they want local estonian girl to have chance

What a horrible post you made. Pissed it up the wall took the piss that year? Lol. No doubt nastya will look back someday and wonder what could have been. But that's sports and that's life when you're dealing with human beings.

How do you know these things of what Nastya did at cska? Whatever happened there is personal and should never be made public.

But thank you for the update on Sima.
Although I don't know how she can do show skating shows have been cancelled since the spring time because of c-19. Who knows maybe nastya will join her doing the shows someday.

So, after cancelation of Europeans ( and probably Worlds ), think for ONE moment to be in 3A position. They lost last year Worlds, with high chance for Aliona to be crowned World Championship, as well as Trusova land her 5 quad clean programm and boost her confidence. I dont keep out Anya of course, but Anya approved to be a strong competitor either way. Then imagine being away from the ice for 2 months, being back after allll this break and with the hope that probably this year will be normal ( with Worlds and Europeans ). Now , imagine, after all this struggle and to strive for Russian Cup competitions, and again anything to wait for. Only goal now is the Olympics. Would you insist on having hope to strive for 1,5 years , knowing that the possibility to be a World champion in 17-18-19 years of age and with new age coming up, will be low? I keep thinking how this girls manage to find their motivations, and i cannot but merely admire them. ADMIRE! !

That woman hugging her looks like Alena Leonova. not sure if she has retired yet but if not they have the same coach.
Someone commented on one of the Russian sites that Leonova is now working with Rukavicin. I can only believe that's as an assistant coach helping him out.

The Russian Figure Skating Federation intends to organize a competition to replace the canceled European Championship
I don't know how I feel about that!!!

The tenacious attitude that they have towards figure skating is admirable.

I wonder if this is indeed true and if they'll invite other skaters from Europe to make it REALLY like Euros.

Well said. Whoever wins ladies Russian nationals should be crowned world champion by the Russian media. ;)

In reality they need to switch to virtual competitions even if will be very flawed it will Be better than nothing. 3A is going to be 18 or 19 years old before they get to their 1st world championship event. :(

Build a bubble in Saint Petersburg or someplace and have competitions there.

I just want to point out that when the swedish fed posted on their social media about the cancelation of Euros they made a point to say that they still had plans to host worlds. Of course noone knows where the Covid situation is going so things might change but we dont need to abandon all hope just yet.

I dont see why they cant hold Worlds in the end of April or something like that. If Stockholm cant afford to host it because of no funding then move it to Russia where even without ticket sales, they can probably still afford to hold it. Maybe restrict number of competitors to 12 in each field and have smaller warm up groups. Ensure skaters and organisers follow the rules. You know wear mask over your nose, wear a mask on the podium, maybe dont same so close to each other when lining up for warm up.

Hopefully they won't have it in Siberia 55゚ below 0.

I think someone needs to do this actually.

It is simply not fair on these athletes. When you've trained your entire life, pushing your body to the extreme in a career that has a use by date, it is just heartbreaking to have your life's work snatched away through no fault of your own.

I don't want these athletes to get sick but I feel terrible for them. Can you imagine all that jumping, falling and spinning each day without knowing if you can/will compete in any of the events that you've waited for your entire life?

All the pain all the emotional turmoil all the struggles all the crying all the anger all the happiness all the joy all the greatness of their skills and their abilities being wasted? Yes I feel sorry for these girls and guys. Russia has interest in having multiple events this season and maybe replacing Europeans or worlds with something but other countries don't seem to have any interest in doing that.

yes build a goddamn bubble if they can do it and Edmonton and Toronto for the NHL and they can do it in Orlando for the NBA they can do it in St Petersburg or Moscow or Sochi.

It is Leonova! Now I recognize her!

And in the free Gubanova had the same handsome guy from the Rukavicin camp (can't remember his name Ramon/Roman?) as Talalaikina had. So, it seems Gubanova is still training with Rukavicin. Good!

And it makes sense, that maybe Leonova is working in that camp too as she made the choreography for Talalaikina's magnificent Maleficent program.

It would be completely irresponsible for Russian Fed to host an alternative for Euros, especially since that implies having skaters from other countries coming in. Have they learned nothing from how many Russian skaters have already had COVID?

It is absolutely heartbreaking to see these skaters lose out on so many major competitions especially with how short a figure skating career can be. However, that does not mean lives should be put at risk just to make sure they get an extra competition in before the Olympic season.
