I thought Rozanov is still in Pluschenko's Academy?I just hope they last longer in that team than Rozanov did.

The last I heard was he wasn't working with Trusova anymore (same with Elena Ilinykh) despite the fact she was the one supposedly responsible from bringing him to the academy to start with. However I never heard anything about him leaving the academy completely. I assumed he was still working with AlenaI thought Rozanov is still in Pluschenko's Academy?
Oh, that's devastating to hear. But at the same time a relief. I thought she was injured, or sick!Gubanova on why she didn’t compete up until SPb championship: she was in quarantine several times, she came in contact with infected people, when she was only about to gain her competitive form, she would suddenly have to quarantine again, thus she missed all Cup stages and couldn’t earn a spot for Nationals. She herself didn’t get infected (wasn’t sick).
For my understanding, there was never an intention for Rozanov to train Sasha. She moved to Pluschenko because of Pluschenko. I think getting Rozanov to the Academy was just a strategic move to get another talented skaters like Zhilina sisters and Alena. The last wouldn't have moved if he had staid with TT.The last I heard was he wasn't working with Trusova anymore (same with Elena Ilinykh) despite the fact she was the one supposedly responsible from bringing him to the academy to start with. Sasha’s father said in an interview that he suggested to Plushchenko to invite Rozanov. It seems that the idea was for Sasha to continue working with him. I read that he is not longer training the Zhilinas sisters, the mother fired him, now she's is training the girls with Mikhailov and PlushyFor my understanding, there was never an intention for Rozanov to train Sasha. I think this belongs in the European ladies thread.Ryabova left Angels.
Coaching too should be discussed separately, I believe. I’ve heard about this too, but perhaps it’s a temporary measure to have Rozanov be able to focus more on Aliona before Nationals? I would assume that, as my first guess.I read that he is not longer training the Zhilinas sisters, the mother fired him, now she's is training the girls with Mikhailov and Plushy
My take on the World Team for Worlds:
For sure it will be between Shcherbakova, Trusova, Kostornaia and maybe Tuktamysheva. But I think we will have the same world team as last year.
When it comes to Nationals I think:
Top 3: Valieva, Shcherbakova, Trusova, Usacheva, Kostornaia, Tuktamysheva will fight for it. And I would have them in that order. But anything can happen. Ice is slippery.
The weak link for me to make the world team is probably Kostornaia. She hasn't been that good so far. There is probably many explanations for that, but IMO, the Eteri team was brilliant in hiding her weaknesses, the Plushy team is not. And she doesn't have her 3A back yet. Without the 3A I think Liza might beat her at RusNats.
And about Trusova, she can easily win Nationals and be on the World team. We all know she can. But she hasn't delivered. In fact, I was looking a couple of years back, she has never delivered. She always has a fall somewhere. In her early junior days that was ok because there was no one who matched her anyway. Today it is not so. So again, I am saying, please Sasha, concentrate on doing a clean 2 (maybe 3) quad program and don't overdo it.
Guliakova as alternate? Nope. Hasn't she had a hard time scoring 200 points this year. But in reality let's hope for a miracle in that there is a world championship to debate all these things this season. My predictions for Senior RusNats.
1- Kamila. If she doesn't feel pressure from the presence of the Angel-Devil(Alëna) and the queenslayer (Sasha) on the rink.
2- Anna. Russian judges favor her so much no matter how many mistakes she makes.
3- Tukta / Alëna, (Depending on Alëna's trixels status)
The rest of the competitors are filler.
World Team.
1- Anna
2<-->3 Alëna / Liza T.
1st Substitute: Gulyakova
I am skeptical about Trusova. I doubt that she gets a spot for the National Team this and next
season.
Agree. It’s just a one-off, everyone has a bad performance once in a while. I’m sure she’s ready to come with vengeance at Nationals.Sasha should be cut some slack for having one bad event.
Unbelievable. So her season never really got started because of covid-19 though Nastya didn't have it. Wow evrything is upside down.Gubanova on why she didn’t compete up until SPb championship: she was in quarantine several times, she came in contact with infected people, when she was only about to gain her competitive form, she would suddenly have to quarantine again, thus she missed all Cup stages and couldn’t earn a spot for Nationals. Sasha has to harness her fury though.Agree. It’s just a one-off, everyone has a bad performance once in a while. I’m sure she’s ready to come with vengeance at Nationals.

I don’t think it’s fair to lump her poor Rostelecom performance in with her downward trend last season. There’s so many different factors affecting everything this season and she does have a new coach she’s adjusting to. If she continues to have a downward trend then you could call it a pattern, but for now it could just be one bad competition. It's a one-off as long as you pretend like last year's Grand Prix Final, Nationals and European championships didn't happen because if you remember those then you realize that Trusova's meltdown at Rostelecom Cup a few weeks ago is part of an ugly pattern, new coach but same problem.
I think her performances last year and this year happened for different reasons. I think Sasha started off very strong with 3 quads, and her first few competitions when she competed with three went quite well. I believe over the summer the coaches focused on training 3 for Sasha, 1 for Anna and no-3A program for Aliona. Hence, Sasha had a comfortable lead against the other 2.It's a one-off as long as you pretend like last year's Grand Prix Final, Nationals and European championships didn't happen because if you remember those then you realize that Trusova's meltdown at Rostelecom Cup a few weeks ago is part of an ugly pattern, new coach but same problem.
