Oh there's going to be even more competitions:Why is there a competition going on in Saint Petersburg when the season is over?
It's interesting that, for the Russian women who have to compete against the talented juniors at home, a high placement at Nationals is harder to achieve than at Worlds. Liza's WSM score wasn't even within 20 points of the Nationals podium.The competitions where you can qualify for the national team for the next season (based on the criteria of the Ministry of Sports):
• World Championship (places from 1st to 15th);
• Russian Championships (places from 1 to 6);
Stasya is skating in St. Petersburg. Why arent the Nastyas or Ksenia? Gubanova and Ksenia desperately need live competition even if it's not the best competition. They each only skated one competition this past season. Not good.Oh there's going to be even more competitions:

Let’s honest, if the Russian Nationals scores (at least in the ladies) were valid as records, like every single WR would have been broken. Also, the level of skating at Worlds was much lower then what we saw at Russian Nationals.Liza's WSM score wasn't even within 20 points of the Nationals podium.
They still get funding. Just less of it.How are Maiia and Zhenya affected by not being in the National team? They have to finance international competitions themselves?
And how does it compare to what Jrs get from RusFed?
Ksenia I think was listed, but had to withdraw.Stasya is skating in St. Petersburg. Why arent the Nastyas or Ksenia? Gubanova and Ksenia desperately need live competition even if it's not the best competition. They each only skated one competition this past season. Not good.
What if someone who wasn't on the national team (or even an alternate) started performing really well at other events? So let's say some Russian lady -- let's call her, totally randomly, Xenia Zinitsyna -- went to some Challenger events and started landing quads all over the place and getting huge PCS. Would there be some way to get her to the Olympics? Remember this is just a theoretical exercise. Totally not referring to an actual skater.
Yes, but there's also National inflation as well..It's interesting that, for the Russian women who have to compete against the talented juniors at home, a high placement at Nationals is harder to achieve than at Worlds. Liza's WSM score wasn't even within 20 points of the Nationals podium.
You don't have to be on the National team to be named to the Olympics - the National team just determines funding allocations (and to some extent support). And yes, they could add her to the national team but then they would have to kick someone else off so she would need someone else to do badly.What if someone who wasn't on the national team (or even an alternate) started performing really well at other events? Didn't we already know this though??https://www.another site.com/r/Figu...adies_fulfilled_the_criteria_for_the_russian/
The NT list is mainly about funding for next season- any skater outside the list can make it to Olympics, if she starts winning.What if someone who wasn't on the national team (or even an alternate) started performing really well at other events? Beautiful Stasya is really punishing herself.Ksenia I think was listed, but had to withdraw.
Stasya had a nightmare SP today. Two invalid jump elements and all jumps popped. She earned from the valid combo (and all jumps in total) a whopping 0.90 points.
I meant more you don't have to be on the Russian National team at the start to be named to the Olympics.Oh, I thought that the sports.ru article suggested otherwise. This would be the passage:
• The list of the Russian national team for the new season is an official document of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKR) and the Ministry of Sports. It includes athletes who will have the right to represent Russia at international tournaments. Not a single skater outside the list will be able to represent the Russian team - it is simply impossible to assign him/her any of the main starts (European Championship, World Cup, Olympics).
The thing is they're not naming her to the team now. They have far more skaters who have already competed requirements than they have spots.Ksenia is hurt again? Why would she have withdrawn when she has to show everybody how good she is. I would have to think she's not feeling well.
