2020-21 Russian Pairs' figure skating

You seriously have an issue about the size difference! While I agree that it is an advantage of having bigger size difference, if you look at the list of competitors at worlds (and someone prepared it very helpfully at the other forum), you will find out that roughly a quarter of the field has a size difference of 20 cm or very close to it. Which means that the pairs you keep saying they outgrew their partner (Kuzmina/Khvalko, Kadyrova/Balchenko, Artemeva/Nazarychev, Kudriavtseva/Spiridonov), they may or may not manage. Just leave it up to them to sort it out.

There is no point of splitting a pair only because there is only 20 cm size difference, because no one can guarantee that either of the partners will find a suitable new partner. There can’t be another explanation for Kudriavtseva and Spiridonov getting back together, than that Spiridonov didn’t find small enough female. And regarding Victoria Vasilieva to go and skate with Zaporozhets, the only explanation I have is that he is either a close friend, or she has never seen him skate pairs. Or she was so desperate to find a partner that she took whatever was available. If Zaporozhets wasn’t good enough for Kudriavtseva, I don’t think he will be good enough for Vasilieva.

Most successful pair internationally at Worlds Sui/ Han have quite a small height difference. They are still amazing. I also don't like the focus on splitting up pairs. Most amazing, wonderful pairs teams aren't that way because of a set height distance but because of their connection to each other which has been forged through years of hard work and communication.

3rd place for Mishina/Galliamov in SP for Worlds debut
hope they maintain their consistency in the FS

Their score was underscored imo, Gallaimov was kind of not expeecting that score from his expression
but then they were getting bigger scores in domestic competitions

Can they still win gold with a clean FS ? they are technically superior than Boikova / Kozlovskii

If Tarasova / Morozov dont medal in this Championships, they better start packing as RUS Fed can dump them
for Pavlyuchenko / Khodkyin who juniorish but are more consistent, there are also Panfilova / Rylov if they can just get triples they will leapfrog everyone as their other pair elements are exquisite.

Gold for Mishina / Gallaimov in their first Worlds !! is that a record ?
I dont think Gordeeva/Grinkov won in their first worlds ? Mishina/Galliamov also the youngest World Champion ?

They might surpass Gordeeva / Grinkov as greatest russian pairs skaters in history, wow.

btw, Boikova does not have a very good off ice persona with that reaction. WT*

They haven't even medalled at Nationals yet! Has that ever happened before, champions of the world before Russia?
What a competition. They really are the champions!

after what I saw, Im glad they are the champions, I think Boikova / Kozlovskii are feeling some favoritism which are absolutely groundless as the mistakes are their own doing, they might even leave Moskvina next season.

They definitely stepped up. TES was deservedly the highest and I really like their personalities. Mishina is a real ray of sunshine. They are great but I will admit that their LP was my least favorite from a choreographic perspective. I liked both Chinese teams and the two other Russian teams choreo better.

I think the RusFed must be breathing a sigh of relief knowing they sent M/G to Worlds.
Was there any doubt that was the right call?? I mean, I say that as someone who likes P/K better - love them but it often feels like Daria just has a tad too much nervous energy (with Denis always giving her the pep-talk, bless his heart)

I hope whatever is wrong with B/K they fix it and fast. They looked tense in every competition this season and basically had to muscle their way through it all. None of the ease of the last two seasons was there. It went all down hill after the test skates where it looked like they were ready to pick up where they left off last season and then didn’t. Whatever happened after that just killed all the momentum

edit: and I would like to know why their coaches thought yet another new SP was needed for worlds but not a new LP. The SP they used all season, while not my favorite, certainly showed them off better then the LP ever did even when they were winning with it last season. I hope they go classical again next season even if it is a warhorse.
