2020-21 Russian Pairs' figure skating

Great performances today. Iulia and Daria are really little. I hope they will not outgrow their partners, even if they can be a bit bland at times.

Just curious, who do you guys think will be the top junior and senior teams this year?

If everybody will be healthy, then for the seniors I expect:
Boikova/Kozlovski
Mishina/galliamov
Tarasova/Morozov vs. Pavliuchenko/Khodykin for the third.
Still don't know anyýthing about Panfilova/Rylov.

As for the juniors, Artemeva/Nazarychev are very stable so far, so they should be the first. There rest is unclear, there should be at least Akhanteva/Kolesov and then I don't know.

I'm missing T/M! I keep forgetting are they going to Rostelecom or to the 4th and 5th cup stages? If they don't do the latter does that mean no Nationals? :(

I'm sad thinking of them fading away...I rewatched their Lord of the Dance SP yesterday. That was a fab program! The Glam SP too... Thinking of those I'm confused people thought their music choices were boring :scratch2:

T/M are going to the 4th and 5th cup stages and skipping Rostelecom Cup because as Trankov said yearlier this season three competitions in a row are too many for them due to their age.
Yay! I hope I can watch them - it'll depend on time zones I guess.

Trankov makes sense, usually competing at a GP gets skaters automatic entry into the Nats, right, but not this year, so there's really no point in going except to gain experience which T/M already have.

I'm hopeful for them!

So we can expect some fight at the last two stages if all T/M, B/K and M/G would appear.
Wow! That will be like three Russian Nats in a row.

Although I've just realised...haven't all the men in those three pairs had COVID? Spooky. (Fortunately, it seems they've all had a mild case and are OK).

Aleksandr and Vladimir were without symptoms and Dima had very mild ones. Remember that Tiffani Zagorski had also covid in summer, but with mild progress of the disease, and in september we already saw her at the test skates.

Yes, the only skater who got hit really badly is Anastasia Shpilevaya in dance. But it still shows that being young and fit is no guarantee of a mild case.

I think people are forgetting/ignoring the information that Evgenia was skating injured last season. It makes me sad that so many want to write them off and push them out. I think people underestimate them.

Aliona Savchenko was 34 when she finally won her OGM. Zhao Hongbo was 37 when he won his. T/M are aways away from that in age.

Senior entries for the 4th Russian Cup event have been published
1. Akopova Rakhmanin
2. Alkhova Bezborodko
3. Boikova Kozlovskiy
4. Vasilyeva Volodin
5. Kadyrova Balchenko
6. Mishina Gallyamov
7. Pavlova Spiridonov
8. Panfilova Rylov
9. Pepeleva Pleshkov
10. Solovyova Ivanov
11. Tarasova Morozov

This is going to be a bloodbath. Hopefully noone withdraws.

I think we can just strike-through the first three stages results in pairs :)

B/K, T/M, M/G, P/R - that's some starting field.

Also, we will see Viktoria Vasilieva, I'm curious..

Dmitri's case must have been very mild, and wasn't off the ice long, if B/K are slated to compete. They only announced he tested positive barely two weeks ago.
