I remember occasions when well known skaters skated out of comp in youth events before their ‘real’ season started especially when they recovered from injury.

I don't think this was the case. I missed the beginning so I don't know the case behind (whether he represents other country or what was the reason), but he was unknown to me.

Hmm, is Angelopol new to ice dance? He doesn't seem as good as Kaganovskaya (or her former partner Vladimirov), e.g. in ice dance aspects like toe point and turnout. But he still skates ok, so maybe switched from freestyle more recently?

these two are amazing for kids their age! they're actually better than some older teams they're 13, right?

They are indeed, so fresh in their ambitions and full of life, energy. No weariness, which I think often shows in adult ice skaters who just hang on because they have little else to do.
