Just letting you know, this is the first time I have been online since the weekend. You see, my computer died a few days ago (a year and 2 weeks after it was bought! :mad: ), and I have spent the last few days trying to get through to technical support at the website we bought it from. But, to no avail.

Fortunately, there were only a handful of files on the computer. Practically all my stuff is on an external hard drive, or still on the old Windows 7 computer. So, I haven’t lost much (the only significant thing on the new computer is a list of all the films I have watched since March. And given that it had passed the 500 mark last week, it will be next to impossible to re-create).

Because Windows 7 is no longer getting updated, I am wary of going online using the old computer. So, this is a flying visit online using my Uncle’s computer. And unless I get through to technical support and get something sorted with them, I probably won’t be online again for some considerable time, as Northern Ireland is going into a VERY strict 6 week long lockdown on Boxing Day (even stricter than the original lockdown we had in March – we even have curfews now!)

Morals of the story:

  1. buy from a shop you can physically go to, so that it is easier to sort out if you have any problems.
  2. when you decide you want to get a laptop to have as backup in case something goes wrong with the main computer, for goodness sake just buy one rather than keep looking in vain for one that does exactly what you want it to!

As I am working on an offline Windows 7 PC, these predictions have been done blind, without doing any research. They have been made using the original entry list, so will not reflect any withdrawals or replacement entries.

Any resemblance to my NHK Trophy predictions from this season or my Japanese Championships predictions from last season may or may not be coincidental… ;)

Here are mens results. To my surprise a considerable number of participants did not put Hanyu in first place and only a few had faith in Tanaka.

Gold with 70 points goes to Moxiejan :bow: :hb:for having 1- 4 correct and earning 10 points for Tomono.

LADIES RESULTS

Truer words were never spoken! Even all of our 6 gold medalists (including Colonel Green) lost 15 points by placing her 3rd or 4th (she was 7th).
To get to the winning score, they had to be perfect on their other picks; 4 did it with 1,2,4,5 and 2 with 1.2.3.5.

Gold with 60 points: Colonel Green, Lamente Ariane, lariko, Moxiejan, Pandicorn, Sherlock Marple,

Silver with 55 points: cabres, Chilbi (1st-ever prediction entry!), CrazyKittenLady, 4everchan, GINO, Lunalovesskating, tinnychan.
