Just wanted to pop in here to say how impressed I was with Corey Circelli at the Austrian Challenger, which I was lucky enough to attend live. I'd only seen Corey on the JGP streams before, but his skating really stood out to me among the men's field in Austria. Especially his free skate was top notch, beautiful lines, great feeling for the music, very polished execution of the elements. Even though he made some mistakes, it didn't distract from the performance at all. And when he did his spiral an audible gasp went through the audience, it really was that exquisite. So Canada, you've got a very special skater there in the making, take good care of him! I'll definitely follow Corey's progress in the future and keep my fingers crossed for him at his next competitions! :cheer2:
Edit: Here is a link to the choreo sequence incl. spiral, since he couldn't show it at JGP: https://youtu.be/7ZrNAkKGTas?t=200

Corey had a pretty good quad attempt. He has shown videos of landing his quad toe really nice in practice, even in combinations.

Cup of Austria/Ice Challenge roundup:

- After being narrowly third in the RD, Laurence & Nikolaj came back to win silver in the free dance (aided by Smart/Diaz having a rough go of it, of course).
- Also a good outing for Alicia & Paul, who finished fifth with some nice scores.
- Emily plunged in the free skate (narrowly being beaten by Alison there, though she still finished ahead overall). At this point, I really can't see either of them being contenders for the Olympic spot.
- Natalie & Bruce won the junior Ice Challenge, though it wasn't anything to write home about in terms of scores, mainly because of RD errors.
- Aleksa finished second in the junior men's event.

and Rose Théroux, after finishing first in the SP, just fell off the podium in 4th overall, just missing the podium with unfortunate errors on spins (well.. some of the jumps didn't work out but if she had managed to get her spin counted and get proper levels on the other, she would have been on the podium)

The next event will be the 2021 CS Warsaw Cup, probably next week. 🙂
Current assignment:
Men: Gogolev and Wesley Chiu
Ladies: Gabby
Pairs: Lori-Ann Matte/Thierry Ferland;
and Deanna Stellato-Dudek/Maxime Deschamps
Ice Dance: Molly Lanaghan/Dmitre Razgulajevs

Marjorie & Zach ended with a pretty solid fifth place at NHK, though it would have been nice if they could have squeaked past Hurtado & Khaliavin.

Also, they appeared on a Quebec TV program recently with retired speedskater Olympian Marianne St-Gelais.

thanks for sharing this
skip the first 3 minutes it's useless...

funny to see how olympic medallist speed skater St-Gelais had a hard time skating in figure skates :) it just shows how different the sports are
I also thought it was very good to see the baby pictures and hear marie-france describe what some of us know/feel : how their relationship works and how it has evolved.... those saying there is no chemistry between them have it all wrong... people are allowed to express their chemistry differently from one another.

That was very fun to watch (if you skipped the 3 first minutes... )

thank you for signaling me 🙌 how lovely! Of course, I can’t help but say he’s training with the best for that move;) But Corey has his own virtues and I very much enjoy his skating,

@CrazyKittenLady so glad you had a good time!
Glad you enjoy Corey... you may want to make that association (with Jsaon Brown) ... but as a Canadian skater fan, there is nothing like Shawn Sawyer when it comes to flexibility ;)

Looking forward to the pairs battle and the Spice Girl Medley from the dancers Molly & Dmitre

I will have keep look out for him.

As usual, Golden Spin is a bit of a B-GPF considering all the great skaters participating. And the Canadian assignments prove it!

They absolutely should have finished 4th. They skated phenomenally, and H/K were sub-par. La/La are my most underscored team of the season.
