Alysa definitely does not need a quad to make the Olympic team. With the quad, however, she can make the Olympic podium.
I agree. Her LP of ~140 is a massive score for a program with three < and mediocre PCS. She could probably win Nationals even with a 3A< as long as she cleans up her other jumps and maintains high levels on the non-jump elements.

Alysa could've gotten 185 and then people here would be here saying stuff like "Is she going to be able to maintain that until the olympics."

Just can't please everybody.
Yes. Why not send congratulations and support considering that Alysa got the highest summer club competition score in U.S. until now ? Even though Alysa fans didn't care about the "highest score" and just think that she skates for herelf not for other's hope, many people still keep telling that she has no chances, she made mistakes, she should jump more quads.......

Isabeau is training 3lutz3lo :) She posted it on her instagram story.
It looks better than her 3Lz3T. She really gets low before jumping. Many Russian girls do this, it seems to help to them get height but I don't think it is a good lasting technique. Hopefully, she works on this. She had made huge strides since last year. Hopefully, we will continue to see that growth.

I don't see anyone on here talking like she's dead and done, many people still complimenting the improvements she's made for events we've seen video of, and that she's trying more difficult elements like the 3ltz+3Lo but pointing out things like 'if these continue to happen it will be a problem' is being objective to the competitive situation right now in ladies skating. This isn't any different than how any other lady gets talked about, for example in the Russian Ladies thread there are posts about junior skaters looking lackluster or showing nothing special/new at test skates (not even a competition). To see only 'she's the greatest thing ever, everyone else is just lucky to grace the same ice as her' posts with nothing critical - there is a fan fest thread.

You are right

WoW You are so wise and gentle!

Let's not forget that in the same way in which people are sensitive to objectively criticize their favorite skater, there are also people getting too sensitive about reading random podium placing comments that do not include their favorite skaters. For all we know, those podium places can be in everyone's hearts and only exist in a far unicorn Utopia where dogs have learned to skate and that's fine. Celebrating a skater that up until recently has received a good amount of hate from trolls from her own country is good. Having constructing criticism is also good. And if people choose to worry over small things so early, well, you do you and that's fine. It's a forum and that's the point.

I'm all about talking about positive and negative things, but as we get into the Olympic season, people will bring a new wave of anxiety and toxicity that will push rather harshly some skaters for the sake elevating others. And I think that's what sort of happened with Alysa when people were noticing she was aiming to jump things other US ladies could not do at that time. A portion of the conservative US skating audience wanted to put her down through snarky comments saying 'she is not artistic enough!' or 'what health consequences will she have with this type of physical load?' or isn't this too risky for a girl?' or 'her technique will not survive and thus her jumper identity will be gone and she will be out of the game' and all of this snowballed into online hate thrown at a child.

My point being, let's criticize everyone in many ways but hopefully not with the intention of proving that she will be 'out of the game' soon. And if people want to say that there will be a full Russian podium, or that Trusova will finally win it all, or that Kamila will be outed by Anna for gold, or that, magically somehow, we will have the same 2020 Junior World's podium on these Olympics (which includes Alysa), then that's fine. I find Eteri to be an interesting character with some interesting quotes, and I think she once mentioned that "the Olympics has a way of bringing the best from the naive ones". And I like to think that, yes, we can see everyone's progress and make projections for this season, but with the pandemic and universal mental anxiety that this situation has brought to all of us, it is fair to say that in the end the podium will be claimed, really, by anyone who brings their A-game on that specific moment.

Anyway, back to Cranberry this Saturday! 🍿

Thank you so much for sharing this insight! While I've enjoyed reading people's takes on the Olympic podium on these pages, the field is so deep that I know to ultimately just wait and see what happens. And yet, I'd like to think that there is a common thread among Olympic winners, and this notion that the Olympics let the naive ones shine is so wholesome that I hope there is some merit to it!

I agree. At this point, we have to put our eggs in Alysa's Basket. She is the only US Lady with the technical firepower to compete with the Russian and Japanese ladies if they all skate clean programs.

I haven't seen a post about the Cranberry Skating Event. There are some really great skaters attending this event. Will there be a stream available?

:drama: Holy Cow, what a lineup of skaters!!!! This is an event I would love to be at live. Unfortunately, it's as far away from me as it could be. Great to see some top ladies competing against each other nice and early in the season.

It's a shame Bradie won't be there. Hopefully her injury is minor. But I suppose it was smart for Bradie to w/d from Cranberry. If she placed behind Alysa, Amber, AND Mariah there she'd have to play catch up, especially if Amber also beats her at SkAm and then USN. But I agree with you that Alysa should be front and center for the USFS. She definitely should go to Nebelhorn.

Has there been confirmation that she's injured?
