Yes. They will allow fully vaccinated spectators from China’s mainland only. No foreign spectators are allowed. Nathan's mom grew up in Beijing and his Chinese relatives should be able to attend the games. Nathan, Vincent, Karen and Alysa should feel grateful that Winter Olympics is going to hold in Beijing instead of Russia/Japan this year. lol
I just remembered that Arthur Liu is a persona non grata to China and his returning with his daughter to the Olympics would be controversial. With these new rules, it seems Papa Liu won't even be able to be in China to see his daughter anyway. Controversy avoided.

hopefully this will take some pressure off Isabeau this weekend :)
Yeah, I'm thinking the same. I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea for her to attempt her quad this weekend. Congrats to both of them! This is a good experience.

You're right about Arthur. Even Arthur is not a pro democrats, he is still not allowed to go to Olympics anyway. Arthur is considered as "foreign" because he doesn't live in China anymore. Only Chinese citizens who live in China are allowed to watch the games in person. If Arthur still has family, relatives and friends live in China, they can still go to the games and cheer for Alysa in Beijing.

Karen's family is actually from Taiwan, not China, soooo.....

While I totally get why people think its unfair for Lindsay to be in the final over SS, I am very happy for her. 2 American girls in the final! I hope they spend as much time in the next few weeks working on their mental games as they do on their skating. Its going to be a stressful competition.

As @zebobes noted, Karen is the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants and her extended family is in Taiwan. So I don't think she would have much of a cheering section in Beijing. :(

Video of Bradie's program

She is looking quite rough with single jumps and doubles, not sure if she is going to be ready for Skate America at all.
Actually, I don't think she looks "rough" at all. The skating, program, and spins are well performed. She is just doing intentional singles and doubles. The height on her jumps is fine. When was this filmed?

Is the rule that non-Chinese nationals can't enter the country for the Olympics or just that they can't be spectators? Many athletes, Alysa included, are minors and will need an adult, preferably a parent, to accompany them.

Alina Zagitova was a minor and took part at the olympics without a parent (her mother arrived only after the competition). Alysa will handle it.

They don't release all the details yet. They will release more rules/details later. They may change the rules and ban spectators if covid cases are out of control there.

Sorry, my bad about her parents origin! Honestly, I think people here underestimate Lindsay. If Lindsay scores close to 200 at JGP final again, she is very likely to be selected on Olympics team. Karen and other veterans are going to fight for the 3rd spot and Karen looks very rough so far.
