It's really not enough to be considered equal. https://youtu.be/IGla71L8Yg8?t=363And Wakaba usually comes out in the analysis as slightly faster than Kaori, with greater height on the 2A, while Kaori has more length.
Is there really some sort of a doubt that Wakaba has one of the best 2As of the Japanese ladies? I don't go by the "I-scope analysis", but here it is anyway:
Which of Rika or Kaori has a better 2A than that, again? There's a reason why Wakaba's 3A is so fantastic.
I'm perfectly fine with saying they both deserve good GOE. But if people are going to question my tastes "lol" and "It's a nice fan debate, but it really doesn't matter in the scoring. As long as they both check the height and length boxes, which they both do, thats all that matters.
What I find interesting is how the whole propaganda campaign about Kaori deserving huge GOE and PCS,despite her obvious flaws, started as soon as they realized she can't do a 3A or quad. Reminds me of Kostner a few years ago who suddenly became a great artist who deserved unlimited PCS once they realized she couldn't do 3/3s.I'm perfectly fine with saying they both deserve good GOE. But if people are going to question my tastes "lol" and "", then I will hit back with proof whenever necessary.
I think her PCS started increasing in 2017-18, when it was clear the international judges loved her. I think they really love her speed and deep edges more than anything else. It started hitting the heights she has now after she became national champion in the 2018-19 season. It's been up there ever since. I think the higher elements thing is a decent conjecture along with her being the "reliable" woman, as to why it is so huge now. Have to keep her afloat and close to the nationals podium. Otherwise JSF will have to internationally rely on skaters like Wakaba (inconsistent), Rika (bombs big competitions), or Satoko (UR skater). If Kaori makes a mistake nationally, it doesn't really matter, give her the PCS and GOE, hope she'll be recovered by the time 4CCs roll around. What I find interesting is how the whole propaganda campaign about Kaori deserving huge GOE and PCS,despite her obvious flaws, started as soon as they realized she can't do a 3A or quad. Wouldn't that be something? The first skater ever to jump a 5A (!) . Joking aside, I agree with you about the 3A and quads, but she showed she can manage without them (especially at WTT last season) precisely because she is really a good athlete. Of course, that Matrix programme fitted like a glove, and she's not yet up to that level yet.One of life’s great mysteries is how a 6 star athlete like Kaori doesn’t have a 3A or quads.
Kaori is so athletically talented, she should have a 5A.
In the video Rika is barely able to do a 3F+Eu+2S, she is coming back from injury just like Anna so it’s understandable. But I think she would have posted a clip of her 3A if she has restored it by now. She’s usually posting this jump every few months. I know Brian struggled a lot with getting Evgenia physically fit for the first year and that Evgenia also struggled with the more relaxed environment compared to Team Tut. Hamada is also quite strict so I’m expecting Rika to have some adjustment issues too.I watched the video, and don't understand why you might think that? (I might be forgetting what exactly her condition was during worlds 2021, and why she delivered what she did)
But I think this isn't a particularly wise strategy. Changing her coaching team, and then not even showing up to test herself at a CS event seems very strange indeed (didn't have to be Asian Open, mind you - Brown is at Finlandia, and unless something's changed that I'm not aware of, he's going to be there with the TCC team, and he's also at Skate Canada this season). I can only hope it's not a bad injury, and she's just lagging a bit in terms of adjusting to her new coaching regime.
Forget huge GOE and PCS, I already proposed the Kaori Bonus. What I find interesting is how the whole propaganda campaign about Kaori deserving huge GOE and PCS,despite her obvious flaws, started as soon as they realized she can't do a 3A or quad. Well I hope she brings that to the Olympics. Im tired of the Japanese team underperforming, especially with the most useless fed in the world.Forget huge GOE and PCS, I already proposed the Kaori Bonus.
Aka she should get 40-50 points just for showing up and brightening up any event with all the sunshine she brings. ISU should put it in the regulations yesterday. Haha
And Kaori and her fans don’t know anything about propaganda. We don’t get involved in those dark arts. Haha

Thanks, I get your earlier reply more now. Personally, I don't have the conjectures of why she might not have adjusted, or what might be happening behind the scenes. Rika isn't someone I watch more than once per competition, but I do hope the best for her.In the video Rika is barely able to do a 3F+Eu+2S, she is coming back from injury just like Anna so it’s understandable. On the other hand after last worlds the expectations for Rika to medal are a lot lower so I hope she’s not feeling the pressure.
Actually Kaori's 2A is not less
I think it's time to move on. If the numbers are still leaving some doubt, then clearly no point in continuing. Those numbers show how impressive Higuchi's jumping abilities are. She enters the jump 5km slower than Kaori yet still jumps slightly higher. That is the reason Kaori has trouble with the 3A. She relies alot more on speed, not jumping ability. That makes the 3A much harder to control. In the 2A, add in the fact that Higuchi is shorter and jumps more vertically, and the jump has a more explosive feel. Both are very good, but different. They both definitely qualify for height and distance bullet.
Clarification of WD-ing from Kihira: (source in Japanese, from twitter) the main reason is the traveling distance to take part in the competition. And she wants to devote her time to the preparation of SC (which makes sense...)Updated entries to Challenge series - AO (as of Oct 6th):https://results.isu.org/events/cschn2021_Women.htm
Mai is replacing Rika's entry, and now Rika is in Sub.
well, to enter a jump without reducing speed is actually more rare ability, as most skater can't really do that lolThose numbers show how impressive Higuchi's jumping abilities are. I'm still waiting for the 3lo example 2333I think it's time to move on. If the numbers are still leaving some doubt, then clearly no point in continuing.
