Has Diana got a partner?

I was surprised to hear that both Balchenko and Kunitsa have both left Moskvina group, it's not often you get this many pairs guys seeking partners :scratch2:
Could be because Moskvina keeps talking about retiring and only staying on as a consultant?

I wonder if the Eteri/Trankov/Sliusarenko arrangement is going to continue?

I'm really happy for Sliusarenko that finally he seems to be getting the respect he deserves after being overlook all the time. He always delivers with his juniors but they tend to leave him to go to the more prominent groups.

In just one season he had an olympic silver pair and olympians that are now junior world champs.

With all the new pairs forming I wonder how many will go to him

It seems that the cooperation was fully succesful so unless there would be some personal or technical difficulties (Perm/Moscow distance etc.) I think the coop. will continue. After all, I've seen Sliusarenko even with Morisi during worlds, so the bonds seem to be clear.

BTW It is interesting because russian coaches were generally not allowed to travel to both junior and senior worlds even with their skaters who represent other countries, but Sliusarenko was present both at senior and junior worlds.

Interesting. 🤔Why would they not be allowed if they or their skaters don't represent Russia? AFAIK, Russians are still able to travel to and fro, it's just that there are no direct flights, trains etc to many countries. But going via a different country that still allows direct travel- no probs.

That's what ISU said

During worlds I was actually waiting for someone to throw a fit about Sliusarenko being there. I was so tempted to mention it in forum but decided not to. Guess that is a perk of being an unknown coach

I thought exactly the same! Thinking 'how could they not know him by now?'

Urmanov was also in junior worlds, likely would have been in seniors as well is Mikhail had gotten a visa:shrug:
Not exactly sure how the ban on Russian coaches being there is interpreted, maybe they have a second citizenship and thus get a pass?

Frankly, I can't recall any official information about coaches being banned. Athletes and officials(i.e. judges and technical specialists) representing Russia, and also journalists working for the Russian media - yes. Coaches(=individuals paid to work with the skaters from any country other than Russia and Belarus) - not so sure.

The coaches are also officials of the FFKR.

I was wondering how the coaching situation was working. Poor Gubanova was sat in the K&C with a lady I never seen before. No Rucavitsyn to see her skate so well. Maybe that’s why she skated so well 😂.

Pavel S had a very successful few weeks 4th in Seniors and 1st in Juniors.

The Russian coaches' domestic status with the FFKR (Russia's national federation) is not exactly relevant here)))
ISU's 1March Statement reads as follows:
... no Skaters belonging to the ISU Members in Russia (Russian Skating Union and the Figure Skating Federation of Russia) and Belarus (Skating Union of Belarus) shall be invited or allowed to participate in International ice skating Competitions including ISU Championships and other ISU Events. The same applies to Officials listed in the respective ISU Communications and/or Regulations under Russia and Belarus. ...

The capitalisation of the word Officials, as one can guess, suggests that it is (not something any of us may have their own interpretation of but) a specialised term used by the ISU in its documentation, e.g. in the ISU's CONSTITUTION and GENERAL REGULATIONS:
(Officials are persons who perform any function mentioned in the ISU Statutes at any event organized under the ISU Statutes (that is ISU Representatives, Technical Delegates for the Olympic Winter Games, Event Managers /Assistant Event Managers, Regional Assistant Event Managers (RAEMs), Referees, Judges, Technical Specialists, Technical Controllers, Data & Replay Operators, Starters, Competitors’ Stewards) and other future “ISU” Officials categories as decided by the Congress.).

I can only guess that certain additional limitations might have been introduced( but were they made public at all???) against Russian coaches sitting on the FFKR Coaching Council . As far as I remember, neither Slyusarenko nor Urmanov, both of whom appeared at the Senior and/or Junior Worlds, is on this council.

Good point.

Kudriavtseva/Spiridonov have split up. (Again. They have tried that last year, but then they got together again after a few months, after each of them tried another partner.)
