Clean Evgenia would get the highest PCS from all Ladies if she goes clean, she has no quad but Daria doesn't have one either, or Alyona for that matter.

Still, chances that Evgenia could come back to her 2019 content are close tiny and I don't think that she will try.

I don't think she would get the highest pcs. She got them because of her consistency and her technical superiority.

She has talent and performance ability so I hope the professional world will embrace her.

It would depend on how they do this GP. Going into the GP I'd say it would go Anna (World Champ reputation boost), Aliona (2x WR holder, GPF, European champion reputation), Kami (Junior World Champion, but less reputation than the other two). But PCS rises with momentum so if any of these skaters wipes away the competition at their GPs, I wouldn't be surprised to see them getting 10s by the Olympics (I don't agree with it per se but I wouldn't be surprised).

With all due respect but considering how fast the sport is currently changing, the younger girls right now will be hard pressed to have a career filled with as many records, victories, medals and winning streaks as Evgenia’s.

And isn‘t it quite ironic that, three years after their Olympic triumphs, the media is still itching for every mentioning of Zhenya and Alina they can possibly insert into a title because they know it will get them the clicks. Isn‘t it ironic that, although we‘re constantly being told how overshadowed by others those two are in terms of athletic performances and how they should just retire already, they still thoroughly eclipse about all other current Russian figure skaters in terms of popularity? And you know why that is? Because people remember. And quads and a lazy head of federation writing them off to put focus on the new stars isn‘t going to do anything against that. You can‘t just exchange the faces of the sport in your country every other year and expect people to just forget about the old ones. It doesn‘t work that way.

So, what I‘m trying to say is: Zhenya will be absolutely fine. And unless she wants to skate to Let it Go on a cruise ship, wearing a hello kitty head (kind of an oddly specific thing to imagine lol), you won‘t find her there. Because even outside the sport she isn‘t lacking in opportunities (as evidenced this very season btw, where she didn‘t compete once). Be it show skating, coaching, choreographing, media work, acting, she‘ll find her way somewhere, so... don‘t feel sorry for her lol.

As for the Olympic gold - it‘s every athlete‘s dream but it doesn‘t make you a star. There‘s a lot of other things going into that and I personally think Evgenia’s performances in Pyeongchang will be remembered no matter what kind of colour her medal ended up being.

Just my two cents because I‘m tired of some of the things said on the last few pages. And oh, before anyone calls me a delusional Medvedeva-fan - I‘m aware her chances of making the Olympic team are close to zero. But again: skating‘s not all about that, is it?

Yeah, agreed. Still, considering how political PCS have become, having the highest means you‘re your country‘s number one and will get the most support from judges.

As for next season - my uneducated guess is:

Shcherbakova will start out with the highest due to World Champion reputation. Valieva won‘t be as far behind as Zagitova was at the beginning of the Olympic season because she‘s already at least a co-favorite, if not the one outright expected to win. Kostornaia‘s traditonally loved by judges, but she‘s done herself no favors last season and will need at least her 2019-20 form to have a chance of beating Shcherbakova. Trusova, Tuktamysheva and the other two juniors will be trailing behind, although I could see Usacheva pull ahead if she performs consistently. Or Trusova if she lands all of her jumps. Khromykh‘s probably the most interesting case, as she has zero international reputation, with no medals from either JGPF or JWC and no medals from either of her Nationals. But there are those quads and if she manages to land them semi-reliably, I could see the judges preferring her over Trusova, Tuk, Usacheva and perhaps Kostornaia (if she doesn‘t have the 3A).

In the end, the only thing that matters in this sport right now is who jumps what. And for that, we have to wait until September as a lot can change in the off-season.

She speaks her mind and is never afraid to take on one reporter or another, or make her views known. As far as being a 'leader' for Russian Figure Skating, I don't think she has any competition from any of the younger girls. She is a force of nature off the ice, and I'm not a bit worried about her, she is definitely not going to fade away.

Yeah, I see that or her becoming a coach. She has great determinaion and passion, as well has experince from two top coaching teams (and styles) in the world. I don’t think she’s going anywhere any time soon.

And as far as Alina goes, remember she is still technically Russia’s most successful female skater. Russia has only had 2 OGM’s. On top of that Alina has a Jr World title, JGPF title, National title, Jr National title, Olympic title, World title and GPF title, as well as having 4 GP gold medals, among many others. With how fast Russian ladies skating is changing nowadays, as well as COVID-19 causing the cancellation and/or modification and/or postponement of many events, I don’t really see that changing soon.

I don't see anything to feel sorry about. She was the best in the world at her craft in 1015-16 and 2016-17, and second best in 2017-18. Nothing is forever; whatever your accomplishments there is always a new "fastest gun in the west" coming up behind you.

I think it's a little more subtle than just, "whoever has the most political pull automatically gets 9.5 from all domestic and international judges and is pusshed as the country's #1. To me, yes, Russia is certainly in an enviable position: they have almost all of the worlds top ladies' skaters..

The most interesting case is Trusova. I suppose it it possinble that she is in the Russian Federation's doghouse for various reasons, but I don't really think that this is much a factor in scoring. She lags somewhat behind the other top Russian ladies in PCSs, so she has to make up the difference by out-quadding them.

Actually, this makes for exciting competitions: "You got yours, I got mine. We meet at the mountain top, winner take all"." To me this is more intyeresting than sveral similar skaters vying for that extra tenth of a point for choreoagraphy.

I guess with the competition in Russian ladies being what it is and her being born in late 2006 and not having an Ultra c jump could have affected her decision. She did win elder novice nationals and finished 7th in jr nats which would have guaranteed her a JGP spot so im really sad we never will see her compete internationally in juniors. I still think she could have gotten a quad or 3a under Davydov had she been transferred into his group.
