2021 Cranberry Cup International

SCOB is my home club - I haven't actually been to the new rink yet, oddly, but I went to the site a couple times before the rink was open.

If I had to guess, I'd say the lot is big enough for at least 200 cars. From looking at a satellite image on Google Earth, I can see 8 disabled spots - six out front and two at the side entrance. You're right that they seem to suggest parking is going to be a challenge - I got the impression from talking to the office about ticketing that they're not expecting a massive number of spectators, but when you factor in parking for competitors and staff, it could get tight.

I wouldn't count on being able to walk anywhere for food - the road that the rink is on is basically in an industrial park. There's a huge shopping plaza with a Target, a Panera, a Chipotle, etc., but it's about a mile and a half down the road, so not easily walkable. There's a small hot dog truck that sets up closer to the rink that caters to the truckers and construction crews in the area, about a quarter of a mile away - that would be pretty easy to walk to.

Not having been in the building, I'm not sure about the temperature. They kept the old rink decently warm - in the summertime I was usually fine in a t-shirt and joggers, even when I wasn't skating.
Excellent info for those going. If it were up to me, I would upgrade the Americans with Disabilities act and provide more parking, access points, and facilities in general. In many places, sadly, the took a three stall bathroom and made it into a two stall bathroom, one for those with special needs. Now, with Americans being more plentiful, and getting older, and an endless series of wars, its time to re-write the act and accomidate people....maybe even real airline seats for real people....I can dream at least. Sounds like a great event! Have fun and be careful. Real 3M 9205s and the surgical rated 1870+ are available on Ebay for a few bucks in lots of 10.

Both streams for the Cranberry Cup International were live a few minutes ago and worked with my VPN set to Germany. So I don't think they are geo-blocked.

SC of Boston - Performance Rink

SC of Boston - West Rink

I’m sitting in the West Rink in jeans and a t-shirt and it is COLD in here! I haven’t been to the main rink (the performance center), but people have been telling me it’s cold in there too. Be sure to bring something warm with you to the competition!

Starting order and panel of officials for Juniors published.

The technical panel and the panel of judges meet the requirements for scores to be recognised internationally (achieving minimum TES for ISU Championships, World standings).
Given the names present in the Junior panels and in the open competition, Pair panel should also be ok (Pair technical panel is usually the most difficult to compose because fewer people have the international qualifications needed). Same for Dance (I can already see 4 not US judges in the Junior panels who have the qualification to judge Ice Dance too).

Are they allowing stuffie throwing?

"Gifts and/or flowers are not permitted to be thrown onto the ice during any portion of the event," per COVID protocols as of Aug 2. (The section re "Spectators" is on p. 3.)

I know that you been checking the SCOB website diligently, moonvine. Although I am not attending, today I happened to click on the link to the COVID document for the first time. Maybe you already have seen it.

.... At US Nationals we can call skaters over after they practice and hand them things, get autographs, etc. Anyone know if this should be ok here or a faux pas? ...

I do hope that you will have a chance to hand some of your gifts to skaters.

Is it possible that SCOB has 400 parking spaces?

Anyway, FWIW, the ticket pages show that at this point, close to 300 tickets have been sold both for Saturday and for Sunday.
And as bostonskaterguy says, there also will be vehicles belonging to competitors, coaches, officials, volunteers, SCOB staff, etc.

I will keep my fingers crossed for hassle-free parking for everyone.

I'm sad to see that Joe Klein is missing from the start order for tomorrow's Junior Men SP. :(
As of last week, he was on SCOB's competitor list.

ETA (on Aug 12):

I forgot to add the link to the handy-dandy (?? ETA: see caveat added below) USFS Competition Central page for Cranberry Cup and Lake Placid International.

It presents the information and links from SCOB in a different way that also could might(??) or might not be helpful.

ETA (on Aug 12, then updated on Aug 13, 14, 15):

Caveat: A problem with the Competition Central page is that its West Rink streaming links for Thu were an old link from Tue ... which could continue to be a problem for Friday.

Although the good news is that at least temporary archiving of streaming seems to be in effect.
(Competition for Cranberry Open started on Tue.
International competition for Cranberry Cup and Lake Placid started on Thu. I have been posting some Lake Placid Dance time-stamps in the Lake Placid thread.

I have brought my things and will hand them out after practices. I do not see anything in the document regarding that.

I learned this when my BIL helpfully cleaned out the car before I went to Philly International and I had no gloves. I was sitting with my hands under my arms. Fortunately some nice person had an extra pair. It isn’t like one can buy gloves in July if one leaves them at home.

The chief problem with the parking is that it is $10 per entry. If one plans to spend the day there watching practices and etc, it is a very long time with just rink food. I think the parking garage with the free shuttle is a much better option, at least for me.

Hope I can stay awake for Senior Pairs tomorrow. So excited to see Zhenya and Vovan in action, hope they'll smash it. Also looking forward to Liu/Mitrofanov. Speedy recovery to Ash CG.
Senior Men will be too late (or early) for me, so I hope there'll be videos.
