2021 Cranberry Cup International

Now this is the Chan/Howe I have been waiting for! They really look so much improved. They've always had this much talent and explosive ability, but it taken awhile for them to put it all together. Even better now than their training mates Lu/Mitrofanov! This is the best program here so far. Let's see how it will be scored, eh!

63+ is low.

Oh wow, Emily and Spencer must have the best twizzles among the pairs (nearly ID quality). Also: great performance and perfect to the music. two footed landing on the throw though (not mentioning the SBS).

Their score is good. Jumps have always been an issue for Emily, but this was definitely the best she's skated as a pair skater. Only up from here.

I'm very interested in seeing the protocols for this Pair SP.

Switching topics: Plenty of mistakes in Danny and Chelsea's program, but I'm still somehow encouraged about them.

Wow!! Such a nice interpretation from Spencer and Howe!! Nyah & Ethan Mission Impossible.. that dance was the best thing in the movie..

And their spins!! They were super fast and well in sync!!!

Come on Danny & Chelsea. My God. I know it isn't easy. But what were they telling themselves in the warm-up? Obviously very jittery with this early season larger field, which is just part of competition. They need to learn how to control that by now. Chelsea's bag of nerves transferred to Danny on the spin. They aren't going to score well in this short program. They are better than this. Come on! I do have compassion, but they got to release any pressure they feel. They don't have to live up to anyone's expectations but their own. And try to breathe and have fun. Keep it all in perspective. Enjoy the opportunity to just be there!

Vanessa & Eric's debut in Quebec is looking even better against what we've seen so far here. Again, Chan/Howe performed the best, with T/M next, L/M, M/B, P/S and Danny/Chelsea (they scored well on their basics but lost a ton of points with the unnecessary mistakes). I didn't see how the Crafoords did, but they aren't quite as advanced in their abilities.

I am all about them. I buy what they are selling 1000%. Beep beep beep! Watch out, the stuffie truck is backing up to the ice!

He looks JOYOUS and she is radiant. I don’t care about the errors.

I like Danny O'Shea but I don't think I've ever seen him with anything other than the same smile for every single program he has ever done, no matter what the music/theme. Would love to see him work on his facial expressions and show some emotional depth. Compare that to Howe who had a variety of facial expressions in tune with the music throughout today's SP.

It’s only August! This team will improve 😉

To be fair, this is only the 3rd time they’ve competed together. And this is the first rough performance they’ve had.
