2021 Cranberry Cup International

I aim to please.

You can have a free stream and take your chances, and you can also offer a pay stream that is steady to those that want to pay for it.

I look forward to your volunteering for SCOB to set up both streams and to set up the payment alternatives.

Carping and complaining is easy. But I am sure that you can get past the easy part and help do the hard work. That would be very pleasing:)

Hey everyone. To help avoid this crammed thread, I started separate threads to discuss the senior pairs FS and the senior men's FS. It's hard to keep up with these individual event discussions in this one overly packed thread.

I hope people will move to the dedicated senior pairs FS thread under this same Other Int'l Competitions section.

Nice program. Too bad about the little mishap on the sbs jumps. This music makes me miss watching Weaver/Poje.

In what other sporting event do the consumers set up the streaming?

The SCOB (which looks like an awesome venue to watch skating and I already stated that previously) decided to offer streaming on their own accord. So they should have been ready for the demand and planned to handle it. If there was no stream, I wouldn’t have said anything.

Because it was free doesn‘t mean one can’t complain about it being substandard. Do it right or don’t do it at all. It’s not like I was demanding they offer a stream. They chose to do so.

But I offered solutions as well:
A) Don‘t do live streaming if you can’t do it properly or your system can’t handle it
B) Set up a pay stream (and that process could have been started months ago). You can even outsource that part. There are counless platforms besides Vimeo you can use.
C) Keep it this way, but upgrade your equipment.

That was a really lovely skate from Jessica and Josh! ❤️ I'm not fond of a long, straight-on carry lift, from anyone, but other than that one small thing, I loved this program. Very smooth and expressive. Josh's extension, in particular, is wonderful. And he has great ice presence.

Yes, SCOB relies heavily on member volunteerism and would love to have your volunteer efforts! And also the ISP that services the SCOB facility would love to use you as unpaid work. And also all the other components of the internet could use some of your help too.

And thanks to SCOB so much for all their hard work and for the stream.

Having a free stream for a summer comp is a true luxury:clap: (And that rink is absolutely gorgeous:love:)

I was comparing both of Alysa's layouts (Sun Valley & Cranberry), they did change a lot of stuff. And I wonder if that was probably NOT the best strategy given that she was skating in Cranberry 1 week after the layout they prepared before. I hope Jeremy sees this and makes a plan for her. She is capable of a lot more.
I'm :scratch2: with this comment because Alysa performed in Sun Valley on July 17, almost a month ago from Cranberry.

It's definitely a stunning facility. On the occasions that I've skated on the Performance Center (when I can tolerate the crazy Boston traffic to get down to the facility) it is every bit as gorgeous as it looks, warm, and the ice is top-rate. And it still has the "new rink smell"!

Dogo evidently had last week's Silicon Valley Open in mind, but accidentally typed Sun Valley.

... Prefer no stream to an amateur stream. ...

No one was forcing you (or anyone else) to watch the Cranberry streaming.
Anyone who found the streaming absolutely intolerable could have chosen to not continue watching it.
I don't share your preference for no stream, but if I did, I simply would not have watched.

... Or if you need to charge a few dollars or euros or whatever for the stream, do it. ...

As I posted on Aug 6 in the thread for U.S. International Classic (which is SCOB's next international event), its streaming apparently will be available only on Peacock Premium (requiring a fee).

Not good news for me, who is trying to save my proverbial pennies for my future skating trips.

And IIRC, Peacock is not readily available to those outside the U.S. even if they are willing to pay? (Perhaps some have gained access via a workaround.)

But maybe it is good news for you. 😖
